How mush does auDA pay their lawyers these days?
Why isn't their an open tender for legal service on the auDA website? This is "Best Practice"

Chris might have banned him for avoiding auDA related questions? Ha ha - just kidding of course. ;)

@neddy I know you're joking, but I want to clarify for those who don't me personally like you Ned - our friendships don't change how DNT is run (moderation and admin is shared between a few of us). We can all have differing opinions, but the community and their views comes first. Our objective has always been to remain completely impartial and build a useful resource and platform where anyone can have their say.

It's a critical time for .AU, I don't think DNTrade members have ever had as much reach and voice as they do now.

Use that opportunity, and make sure you join auDA and have your say. As said by @Lemon and @snoopy in another thread today:

https://www.dntrade.com.au/threads/2017-board-elections.11357/

A very important thread. For those who are current members renewing is absolutely vital in terms of domainers/small biz people having a voice with AUDA. If you are not currently a member please join and have your say on how it is run. As Lemon says it is best to join earlier and be certain you will be able to vote.

Dodgy old AUDA. Do people think people are really agreeing when they make that payment? Don't think anyone agrees personally.
I must admit, the Code of Conduct is the one thing that stopped me renewing automatically today. It's less about the code of conduct and more about my implicit endorsement of these kind of ... shenanigans? If that's the right word?

12.3 Unpaid Membership Fees
A Member shall cease to be entitled to any of the rights or privileges of Membership if:
a. the annual membership fee or entrance fee, where applicable, of that Member remains unpaid for one (1) month after it becomes payable; and
b. a notice of default is given to the Member;
but, subject to clause 13.2, those rights and privileges shall be reinstated on payment of all arrears.
(Amended by Special Resolution, 17 October 2011.)
Membership Renewals are not due until 30 June 2017 and you have 30 days after that to pay.
Let's see how it plays out.
The question is do they actually want you to renew?

No one should renew under the new rules until the very last minute late June 2017... by then we may see some changes at auDA....and some developments by Government or media etc.

As for now post FREELY and get it all off your chest.

I dare say many people will post issues about auDA who are not members anyway so there will be no hiding from the facts and issues!

Lets see if they try to muzzle the media, government and non members...

Their actions have definitely caught the eye of a lot of people now. Improved Transparency and Accountability? I do not think so and they know they have gone backwards to protect themselves and perhaps their own interests ..personal, political and financial...

I don't own any .au domains in my own name, can I still apply for membership? I looked through auda website, but cold not find clear criteria for membership, only "Membership of auDA is open to all stakeholders of the Australian domain name system."

I'd have to get an ABN first...I prefer not have one.

Anyway, it does not actually say anywhere that you need one, at least not that I could find.
