Why do people purchase prominent TM domains on the drops? (Particularly those who should know better).

Here's another one from today. It's got a squillion TM's.

Have to agree with Ned on these TM domains being bought at auction and hand registered.

I'm no saint and have made mistakes on domains not knowing they were TM in the past, but some of these guys doing this are not your average green domainer.

Best to let them drop.

I think most of us have been there Don. And some of us still have domains that may well be partially trademarked by others, but we know that we have a good chance of defending them because we use them under different TM classes - or they contain generic words or geographic areas.

What I'm mad about is BLATANT TM infringing (cybersquatting).

Simply no excuse for these imho:

  • wikipedia
  • givenchy
  • celine dion
  • adidas
  • benetton

And here are some other blatant auDRP's within the past couple of months. All were name transfers to the Complainants:

  • asahi.com.au
  • emirates.net.au
  • starwars.com.au
  • walmart.com.au
  • ljhookercommercial.com.au

i think what needs to be understood is that anyone who is involved with DNT or reads the threads knows the rules or at least can feel free to ask.

auda needs to acknowledge the role DNT plays in helping people understand the auda rules but there seems to never be a "voice" from them which is disappointing in my view.

it would be totally wrong to tar the community with the same brush as these IDIOTS, yes IDIOTS, that bring the process into question.

i see utube has found a home
HTML:
http://www.ammodoors.com.au/

its not up to us to manage the environment but it seems nobody cares and thats a concern, WHY ? because auda will let all these purchases go through and build them up and up and then pounce ! then they will say "ohhh , i think we need to review the rules because of all these blatant registrations........"

and thats when it is going to kick everyone in the knees.

whilst the goodguys get screwed as well.

it really amazes me that the recent rego's have all been from people who should know better ! thats the sad point , and if you are reading this then come on and justify your purchases as we would all like to hear them.

Thanks for clarifying Cal.

Just so everyone else knows, it wasn't me who did a post using offensive language and crude comments (towards auDA).

I posted an immediate response saying that the comment made by this member was "ill-informed and offensive".

(Mods: just a suggestion, but instead of deleting whole posts, perhaps you could leave the username of the poster and just delete the offensive bits? That's what happens on a lot of forums).

Save you the trouble.

Let's hope the registrant is authorised to purchase this domain on behalf of Shane Crawford.

Otherwise I see big trouble ahead (given Shane was a champion AFL player; and is now a media personality).

i think you went to easy on this purchase, many of us are ABOUT to attend the AUda xmas party and a dnt member registers that name !!!

its basically 3 things here, first, your name is shanecrawford? , 2nd he is your best mate and he asked you to get it, or 3rd for your own benefit put it down to learning and be bloody quick to PD it yourself.

as a famous person once said " god save the queen as nothing will save the governor general "

and he is dead !

not my concern, i think my backyard lawn is clean and dandy.

we have all made mistakes, best to learn and get rid of them quickly.

What do you think is going to happen? The CEO of AUDA is going to spank this person in front of everyone at the xmas party? Maybe they'll use a $9million solid gold paddle?

At least no one registered BuddyFranklin.com.au today. :)

But why oh why would anyone bother registering elance.com.au? Just asking for trouble imho.

How was it taken out of context?

I'm pointing out the ridiculousness of relating the registration to the AUDA christmas party. That is why I asked what you think will be happening at that party? How is that in any way related to the name?

Please explain!

Just going through the Deleted Domain Names on the AusRegistry list, and noticed these three domains in particular.

I'm a fan of VentraIP, but when I saw these registrations, I was flabbergasted. Is there a legitimate explanation?

As Pauline Hanson once famously said: "Please explain".
