Are .Biz domains of any use?

A long time ago i picked up cheaplifeinsurance.biz purely to build an adsense site.

Its only 1 of 3 .biz names i registered and ive never done anything with them. Obviously the high ,tld's are best, but is it worth investing a bit of time and trying to rank with a .biz name?

Its only showing around 480 exact locals per month, but the CPC was over $24. I wouldnt mind getting some of those but im figuring ranking the site may be a huge task.

Any opinion on wether its worth trying?

Thanks :)

Well to be honest with you, you can rank .biz sites I only own like 3 or 4 aswell and I had one ranking for a decent term for a while let I didnt work on it and it slipped away. In terms of out ranking local TLD's in the AU market it will not be easy. You can get target the domain and try your best the EMD may help, but don;t count on it.

Don't bother with all those type of extensions.

.biz, .co, .info, .eu, .tv - they are all rubbish.

FWIW - for anyone interested in this random fact... .tv does not mean television... it's actually the country extension for Tuvalu.

I have a only own 1 .tv domain...

Makes about $50-100 a month...

Ranks page 1 for a decent term.

Have not touched the domain in ages lol

It's a gTLD so I guess the relevant search metric to look at would be the global figure - 8,100.

IMO this domain isn't suited for Australia and, although, I have no experience of trying to rank globally (or in the US) I'd suspect you'd need a lot of work to get results in a much more competitive market.

Decent domain though!

What a LOAD of Codswallop.
If that was the case, all the developed sites using those and other less known TLDs that make an income would not be making money.
Yes a .com with a Killer keywords is preferable, but other Gtld's and ccTLD's can also make money. .
info, .biz and other supposed useless Gtld's have sold for large amounts of money.

I don't see any there selling for "large sums of money".

Why do you actually state which ones sold italiandragon instead of just posting links, surely it's easy to recall a few ones that sold in recent times for large sums of money if they aren't shit and to be ignored.

That's 4 vs what.. thousands of .com? All I'm saying is that .com or .com.au is your best bet. Why would anyone register a .biz or .info?

Not going to bother trying to argue this because there's no benefit in it.

Keep developing your .biz and .info while I make some real money.

If you can make money off something why not? I would register one if I believed it would get me a good return (or in my case a return at all :) )

Ive made decent $$$ off .info domains in the past too, really we all know .com and .com.au is the best bet but some times you can not even touch these TLD's for a huge amount of keywords you can pick up a .info TLD make a website out of it in a informational style niche at only a hand reg cost, for a .com domain that would have cost you XX,XXX+. Sure enough it is an easy entry strategy for some.

What .info or .biz names have sold for large amounts of money?

Get your dnjournal out and your super search engines folks. I can't think of one "large sale" in these extensions off the top of my head.

.biz, .co, .info, .eu, .tv - they are all rubbish.

That is the reality of the situation, these are way down the pecking order.

If a .com is worth xx,xxx do you really think it's worth the time, effort and money trying to get a .info to rank?

Sure you can earn a few bucks in the short term (possibly) - but it's kind of a chump change strategy IMO.

Plus the resale value is close to non-existent.

You really need to know what you are buying if you want to make money, It could be the right niche that you know how to work affiliates in or any thing.

I only own like 4 .infos and all make easy $$$
