May i ask have you ever tried to start a new trend? and if so what did you do, twitter, Facebook, t-shirts or maybe something else. I would love to read your experiences ……….cheers

I see the new site selfie.com (seems to have just gone live) has an alexa rank of 260,000 worldwide and about 124,000 in america.

How would you make money with that site?

As stated until as recently as yesterday i have never seen a site with that domain so it does show type ins are still relevant.

- Critical mass and probably sell the user base is their goal.
- Facebook connect integration ect.

Many of these sites just live off social connections and drive huge amounts of traffic from social sites to their website.

If you look at some records of that site it was started in mid- 2013 - http://www.crunchbase.com/company/selfie-com

If you look at the founders of the site they have experience in other social sites/ big traffic blogs so it is easy for them to drive additional traffic in.

Probably CPM ads after the site launches maybe 3 months in. Seems like it is mostly self funded at the moment.

honestly......... as its almost unbelievable but I created a "mankini" in 1990, I was living in London in soho with 2 female Canadian clothes design students when we were not hindered by conformities and we tried to pitch the idea to local "gay" clothes shops but nobody wanted them.

the prototype was actually a mans G-string with the sides cut off and the straps were everyday bracers , I have a photo somewhere but I don't think anyone would like to see it

obviously no internet back then but it was trying to create a trend as I now can't find anything online that pre dates 1990.

Helena actually had a clean up spree last month and found the box of photos from my 23 yr old European adventure ( dozen wine bottles size box ) and I know its in there somewhere.

maybe? just maybe I destroyed them lets hope I did !
