Great so will you be signing up so we ( your customers with .au domain name renewals) can benefit from it?

I think the timeframe is 1st May - 30th June and then it is a new .au wholesale Registry provider Afilias so I can see why auDA/ Ausregistry have agreed on this date up until 30th June 2018.

Afilias may wish to do some promotions also to show us how they can do it better

    hi,

We have signed up for the program now and have been approved.

    Some quick rules:
    - We plan to pass this rebate on in full.

    - we will apply the rebate to your account balance within 14 days of us getting the rebate on any domains that qualified.

    - you need to figure out what names qualify and renew them at the right time.

    What names qualify example:
Today 11th of May, domain names that qualify are those that expire in 60-90 days time. So any names expiring from 11 July+30 days.

At Drop we offer a very easy way to find what names qualify:
    - go to the Renewals page
    - Select filter "Expiring within 90 days"
    - in the list, see column "Days Until Expiry" any domain that has over 60 Days to 90 Days are the only ones that qualify that day.

So if you wish to take advantage of this rebate program, feel free to start moving names to Drop, which is free, and then do the renewal and save.

    Cheers
    David

Other Registrars seem to be doing their discounts from 1st May for any names expiring from that date. They are already live with the program.

Your program will only give the discount for names from 11th July?

Whatever this promotion is it is clear it is a mess, very few know about it and it is not being promoted properly by anyone.

    to be clear here:

The rebate is only for domains that expire in 60 - 90 days time, that are renewed now.
This rebate is in place till the end of June 2018.

So the rebate is already in place NOW, and will be applied to any domains that are in that expiry range 60-90 days.
    Some examples:
    - Today the 14 May, domains that expire between 14 July and 13 August, qualify for the rebate.
    - Domains that expire this week will not get this rebate from AusReg.
    - On 30 June, the domains that expire on 29 August to 28 September qualify for a rebate. All others do not.

So every day there is a different date range for domains that qualify.

    Hope that helps clarify.

    Cheers
    David

So if the full Afilias 60% lower prce was passed on by Afilias/ auDA I guess that is a better deal that this time limited .au renewal discount promotion from Ausregistry / auDA anyway..

I've had a few tickets recently about the promotion and I want to be clear.
In order to pass on the savings in full we are not making any changes to our system which means we are not applying discounts up front.
You pay the full rate now (just like we do). When AusReg gives us a list of domains which qualified and applies a credit to our account we will then do the same and apply a credit to your account for each of your domains which qualified.

    Hi,

Only a 10% saving is planned to be passed to the registrars by Afilias/auDA.
Not the full 60% saving that is being achieved by the transition.

Why only 10% and not the full 60%?

What is the reason from current auDA Management and Board

auDA is obviously failing in it's obligations to Consumers. A key component of their obligations as .au namespace managers.

It also is part of the 29 suggestions from the Commonwealth they had been warned about to fix... to NOT focus on their own profits and to better look after Consumers.

Registrars, Resellers and .au domain name Registrants need to know about this and to speak up.

We do not want to see auDA wasting more money or further building their own empire.

    "Recommendations:

    2. That auDA continue to operate as a not-for-profit entity and does not seek to maximise profit.

    3. Consideration of commercial strategies relevant to the sustainability of the domain administrator should not detract from the domain administrator’s core function as described in the terms of endorsement and core purpose."

Great news everyone... the Bounty offered by AusRegistry has been increased to $10 rebate on renewals on domains that quilify for the discounts.

We at Drop and DomainShield will be passing this rebate in full. Any clients that have already taken advanage of this offer will be retrosprectively looked after, so you will receive the $10 instead of the $5 previously advised.

Note: "The program ends 22 June 2018 - or until the remaining Registry Marketing funds are exhausted."

So if you have not moved your names to Drop, please do so and start saving on this renewal offer program. Plus dont forget to reach out to Cam Bell to check that your account has the volume registation/renewal discount rate applied.

    Cheers
    David

Finally someone has the honesty to post about this .au renewal discount promotion and to pass on the discount in FULL.

    Well done www.Drop.com.au

Why has this been kept secret from .au domain name Consumers by auDA and so many others in Supply?
