Interesting to see netfleet.com.au has pulled land.com.au from today's auction and its now transferred to drop.com.au BEFORE the expired auction CLOSED.

WHO IS INFO @ 1.35PM (One hour prior to the Close)

No wonder it was Lost - I feel sorry for the person who expected to win the name on Netfleet.

Upgraded servers at Drop?

Seriously though, reading between the lines I'd reckon there were appeals happening over the last few days and it was stopped from dropping at the last moment each day.

On a side issue, how hard would it be for the registries to query the ABN Lookup at say renewal time to check if the registrants details are still in order? Fark, surely it's not much for a code monkey to put in place?

How about domain lock down and ABN checking as value adds to differentiate your offering or charge a premium?

I can't believe no one has said "land grab" yet. I guess I'll have to wait for the mainstream media articles.

True. The Registry and Registrars are responsible for this mistake. In fact, auDA is also responsible for ensuring their Accredited Registrars are meeting policy compliance. (remind me who holds auDA accountable?)

According to the current whois, it looks like land.com.au is going to drop again.

I did see the whois details change shortly after the drop but it looks like its reverted back to Domainshield

OK, I need to fix up a couple of things;

First:
The whois clock (timestamp) is wrong...its not Australian Time (its exactly one hour ahead of current Australian time) I thought I captured it at 13:35 but its actually 03:13:35 H/M/S

The image posted was taken at 2:13PM (realtime) the timestamp on the image is 3:13PM (wrong time) How could the whois timestamp be greater than the time I posted it @ 2:27PM unless, the whois clock is wrong.

Second:
I overlooked the Expiry times: According to auDA Policy

c) “Purge Cycle” means an automated process at the registry where domain names are purged from the registry. There are two Purge Cycles:
a. Deleted Domain Names, which runs at 1.00pm AEST (2.00pm AEDT) on every day, including weekends and public holidays.
b. Expired Domain Names, which runs at 1.30pm AEST (2.30pm AEDT) on every day, including weekends and public holidays.

So at the time I took that screenshot DomainShield had already caught that domain at 2pm because it was a PD and Not a normal expired domain name dropping at 2:30pm.

All in ALL, Afilias needs to correct that whois clock.

This is a really interesting situation...I've not seen anything like this before on the .au domain name drop auctions and many questions seem to be going unanswered.

Was the previous registrant offered information about the auDA Registrant Review Panel Appeals process? Why not? Registrars and auDA should provide this information to all Registrants when names are being questioned or put into Policy Delete etc.
Interesting the auDA Spokesperson ( auDA CEO?) made such comments when asked what has been going on.
