i know 5pm can be a difficult start time but please express that in your rsvp, i'll also aim to arrive early as i normally do to dnt meetups.

Member Meet-ups
Following on from our survey last newsletter, we are pleased to confirm the first in a series of Member Meet-ups will take place in Melbourne. These meet-ups are an opportunity for the CEO of auDA to inform members of our plans for 2017/18 and for members to ask questions.

The survey, however, received a low number of responses from members, but we do wish to proceed regardless as these types of events are an important part of engaging with our members. This first event will be held in Melbourne due to member sentiment and we aim to follow it with further events across the country. The details for the first event are as follows:

auDA Member Meet-up, Melbourne
Date: Wednesday, 21 June 2017 – 5 to 7 pm
Venue: To be confirmed once RSVPs are receivedhttps://www.lists.auda.org.au/lists/lt.php?id=e0sBAQFEAVMCGVMMVw
RSVP by Wednesday 14 June 2017 to engagement@auda.org.au

It is our intention to webcast or live stream this event and we are currently investigating these options.

Tim, I sent this email to the official RSVP; as well as Cameron Boardman. No response as yet. Perhaps as an auDA Director, you can get some answers for me?

"Can you please advise whom from auDA will be attending the Melbourne meet-up on 21st June?

Will the Chair be there? Other Directors? Staff like Bruce Tonkin?

If I’m going to make the trip all the way from Townsville, I want to ensure that I’m going to get “bang for my buck”!

Regards, Ned"

Watch out Tim - the batphone will ring. You answered on their behalf! Naughty Director! ;)

Given that new memberships will be accepted (or rejected) at the Board meeting on the 19th June, new members better be on the watch out not to transgress the new Code of Conduct - or CoC as it is affectionately known. There may be investigators present!

i don't see a problem ned, you posted a valid question, it has nothing to do with board matters and i was just trying to help.

Thanks Tim. I'll be there.

My travel arrangements aren't finalised yet, but I'll also be arriving earlier in the day - so I would be happy to catch up with people before the Member Meet-up.

I'll also be staying the night in Melbourne, so I'm free to catch up with people for dinner/drinks after the Member Meet-up too.

i've just been contacted by someone who is not currently a member of auda although they now have applied, regardless of your membership status if you want to attend then please do as per the constitution , "auDA will administer the .au ccTLD for the benefit of the Australian community." and the recent survey went to @200K people and we don't have 200k members !
its great that more people are becoming interested in the evolution of the australian domain space.

Lets hope it doesn't end up in a CoC fight

Nothing from Cameron. Only an email from their new "Marketing and Research Coordinator" Richard McKenzie who said he couldn't tell me (at this stage) who was attending apart from Cameron.

So it would be good if you can follow up for me please Tim (and I'm sure I speak on behalf of others).

Look, I agree this CoC should be circumsized. But, let us all agree that Ned should not be the one to do it.

i followed up with richard and let him know i would definately be attending ( my mistake for not letting him know) should he receive any other requests for information.
at this stage richard has not been informed who will be attending from the board or auda apart from cameron, so i will contact cameron tommorrow.
its a good initiative and i hope its well represented by both auda and members/stakeholders
regardless on the 21st of june in the cbd i will be somewhere as i promised ebranding so please rsvp and commit.
i know how hard it is to get a dnt meetup happening but please make the effort for a good opportunity to chat about "whatever"

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your reply and we genuinely appreciate and value your interest in .au. Whilst this is a member only event, for future consideration we offer the following options:
  • we can add you on to our ‘announce’ list – this is opt-in mailing list and we provide interested parties with all general auDA announcements
  • additionally, we would welcome you to join as a member, details on how and the process can be found here https://www.auda.org.au/about-auda/membership/
  • if you do decide to become a member, the meet-ups are planned to continue over the year, so there will be other opportunities
Apologies if you read something on DN Trade about this event, it’s not a forum we contribute to from a member, event promotions prospective, operationally.

sorry christopher, as it reads, its a members meetup, if you applied today you could still possible be a member and come.
i have however suggested that this initiative could be considered in the future from a stakeholder view as i know christopher you are heavily involved in the industry.

It'd be nice if persons whom have lodged a membership application and paid their $22, could also attend.

They would have already signed and be covered by the CoC up to and past that point.

Why not have a plus one invite as a membership drive.

In the interests of transparency and non members being stakeholders in the national infrastructure anyway, why would it be a private function. It's not a board only event.

If it's a cost issue... oh wait $10m in the kitty.

i like the +1 idea, but not now sorry,

if you have an application in and have received the phone call i can't see why your membership wouldn't be passed at the next board meeting 19th June prior to the members meetup.
How many would be real people and how many dogs and cats?
ohhh please don't make domainnames post that "animal farms" video again !!!
