Cancelling a bid

Hey everyone,

Is there any way of cancelling a bid on Netfleet?

I have placed a bid on a domain which i can see now to be a misspelling (bid placed Friday arvo...) but i can't seem to find a way to cancel it.

I have emailed the support desk and Mark directly but no reply.

Thanks,

Morgan

i know its to late now but others have posted this Q before and i think the answer is no you can not cancel a bid BUT, i think there is a system where you can cancel the registration BUT i think NF still take your money.

given NF is now a blind auction i think it could be ok for a system to be in place to cancel a bid as you have had no affect on the bidding, drop would be different as it could be considered shillbidding, not that you would do that but it could be abused.

i'd be interested to know the NF reply to your request which you may get when the blue moon rises on the 7th sunday after the summer solstice on optimise prime.

The last time i sent them a support message it took close to a week to get a reply. I would have spent close to $100k with them over the last few years and i can't get a response within a week.

If i don't hear from them soon and if they can't allow me to cancel the bid (wasn't much a few hundred $$), i will boycott them and move all my domains away and prevent bidding at Netfleet again and i will advising others to do so. Drop's system is a lot fairer and the tactics they use are a lot more professional, what Netfleet are doing now is basically screwing domainers for as much $$ as they can and not providing sufficient support or tools.

If doing so loses me a few domains, so be it. If everyone stopped using them they would quickly change their system back to what was a fair marketplace for dropping domains.

I think if you make a bid early their should be a time limit where you can retract the bid before a specific time limit, as you cant expect to remove something 30 mins till drop time yet if you give them 15 hours-20 hours notice it is a bit even offer to pay $10 for quick support like Ventra does. Even with the offers it is easy to make a mistake if you are doing multiple things at once.

Let me guess.... 'cheapfights.com.au'.

It made me sit up when I saw it too, then I realised why it was dropping.

It's a shame you can't retract bids on NF. I'm always real careful when I place my bids there, with no way to retract a bid it would be horrible to typo $20k instead of $2k!

Or simply an edit button, even if you can't cancel your bid you should be able to edit the amount you want to bid...

I will wait to get a reply from Netfleet, however long it takes... If they force me to pay i will move all my domains from them and close my account until they add an edit or cancel button into the system.

Yep lol

Friday afternoon bid as you can see lol Two seconds after i realised it was missing the L... but i couldn't edit or cancel my bid. And no surprise support didn't get back to me before close of auction at 1pm today.

i agree with being able to change your bid, unsure how expensive the programming fo r that would be but i am sure it wouldn't be a cheap fix.

given that in fairness to NF their is your own due diligence before bidding as there is no strategic gain from bidding early so you do have many hours to check things out.

whois would be the first place and you type in cheapflights only to discover the name is NOT expired which makes you think twice eg: rno recently that looked like an LL of mo on screen, waybackwhen is another goodie, and i'm not saying this for you morgan, but more for newbies.

regardless of that, i'm still interested in nf's reply and its timestamp or are they still hungover from training.com.au?

Remember their system already has the option to 'increase' your bid so allowing for a decrease would not be hard at all it's just that Netfleet don't wish to include it.

I haven't paid the invoice and i won't out of principle until:

1. The issue is rectified

2. Someone from Netfleet contacts me with a logical reason as to why you cannot decrease a bid on a domain.

They won't do anything about it until users take a stand, annoying customers will eventually come back to hurt them. If Drop tweaked their system a bit and got more catches no one would use Netfleet due to their auction system imo.

Anyways i have had my say, i will wait until i hear from them. Hopefully they take into account what i have said re editing bids or im going to be moving 150ish domains during the week. lol

Have a good weekend everyone!

I empathise with your situation Morgan - it's happened to me; and it's happened to others.

Hopefully, given that you acted so quickly, Mark may help you out as a one off gesture - or certainly offer you some sort of goodwill compromise.

One of the good things about Drop is that you can reduce your bids - and if you make a total stuff up, you can get Cam or Katherine on the phone straight away. They will look at each circumstance on its merits - e.g. were there other bidders, and how will they be affected.

But being the "Devil's Advocate" for a moment, Netfleet's valid argument will be that their system asks you to confirm your bid (Drop's doesn't, so it is easier to make a mistake there). I've just done an example on a domain today (I didn't go ahead with this bid by the way!).

I wish you good luck!

Hi Neddy,

Thanks for your reply.

I am definitely not saying i wasn't at fault as it was my stupidity to bid without doing ample research, but why i am annoyed is that there is no way to rectify this on Netfleet. People always make mistakes.

On their old auction system (open bidding) i can see why you can't cancel/edit a bid but on a blind bidding system i think its quite sneaky of Netfleet not to allow it.

In the past i have made mistakes and went through with the deal (may remember mysuper.com.au which i accidently bought for $30k lol) as it was entirely my fault and the auction system at the time meant someone would have paid more for it had i canceled my bid when i realised.

Ill wait to hear from Mark but going off Netfleet's support time responses the domain may have dropped again by the time i get one..

People always make mistakes.

We certainly do Morgan! Some more costly than others though.

If it's any consolation, play the "glad game" for a moment. Be glad you didn't bid $3,333 or more. Because if you initially thought it was "cheapflights dot com au", you could have easily placed a much larger bid. After all, that domain has 201,000 monthly exacts. ;)

Anyway, I hope Mark / Netfleet make you a gesture.

Cheers, Ned

Good luck dealing with NF. They don't care if you come back or not, they just want to screw you over for your money.

I got screwed $2500~

you can find the thread for it on this forum KLDS.COM.AU - I end up paying for the domain because technically it was my fault - but the least they could do is just charge me the catch fee + reg fee.

ahh yes , i remember now.

another case of due diligence / caveat emptor, i can see NF's point of view but i do agree with you.

( i posted a while ago) interesting that i own a domain purchased from netfleet where the top bidder refused to pay ! netfleet then contacted me and asked ( as i was the underbidder) if i wished to purchase the domain at the previous bid value.

that was $250 less then my bid that lost ( @ $1000 ), SO nf created an invoice for me which i paid and got the domain i wanted, i can't see why they can't do that now !

put in a "stupidity fee" of $50, i'm sure people would be happy with that !
