AUS-DN.COM

Currently making a simple website to facilitate in the selling of domain names and will also act as a proffesional backing to contacting end users.

I've also added the features of the offer to buy domains, and if a company wants to use us to find a custom domain name.

So you’re going to try and sell domain names and you selected an obscure - hyphenated domain name to do it on? Interesting strategy, it won't work but no harm in trying.

Ashman, I don't see how my hyphenated domain will cause any issues? Yes it may not be as appealing as a decent domain, however it will just be a direct link from somewhere.

Your pessimism is a horrible trait.

I was thinking of getting australiandn.com or australiandn.com.au - yes the DN is unattractive

If you don't want honest feedback don't ask for it.

You would be better off using your domain name Fundamentals.com.au to build on and calling it something like Domain Name Fundamentals.

Well your rhetorical question has a tone about it.

How about stating "You should change your domain name to something else / Your domain name isn't that great".

THANKS ANYWAY ASHMAN

Don't worry about how the site looks or the domain name at the moment, more important than that is how are you going to generate enough traffic to make this whole exercise worth it? Once you have a profitable source of traffic you can then work on making it more profitable by improving the website or the domain name.

Chances are that this will never be a profitable website Guidex, if you are doing it as a learning experience carry on, if you are doing it to make money I highly doubt that you will generate enough domain name sales (that you wouldn't have made without a website) to make it worthwhile.

It's not about the traffic. It's about a backing when contacting end users. If I contact someone offering them a domain name, I would have it listed on this website along with the rest of my information. Attempting to look slightly professional that's all.

I wouldn't be expecting traffic with about 6 words on the page. SEO would be a pain.

Ashman - All good. Thanks for the feedback

Buying and selling domain names is not for the feint of heart. Nothing a few years of experience, and some good common sense cant fix. If your willing to stick at it and put in the hard yards that is.

One bit of feedback for you, take it or leave it, but that domain name aus-dn.com is not very good.

I was only going for something short, not a premium domain to start with. I'll find a new one.

Yes Peter, this interests me more everyday, I read and read, eventually I'll know enough. I'm only young so I've got a fair few years to learn.

im sorry but i don't do "sugar coating", so here it is

you are planning to sell domains to end users telling them how important it is in having the right domain for their business

no doubt you will also be telling them that in order to have a good domain name, they must be prepared to spend the money

yet at the same time, instead of investing your own money into a quality domain name, you are planning to use probably the worst hand registered domain name i have seen in my 15 years in this industry

you're kidding yourself if you think using this hyphenated crappy $8 domain name that has no meaning will give you any credibility and make you look professional

my advice to you is to get and BUY a decent domain name for what you hope to do, then at least you will be practicing what you intend on preaching and that's not rocket science

lastly, there was no need to attack ashman, he was NOT pessimistic, just honest and absolutely correct

Yes. Thank you for educating me everyone. Will not make the same mistake in the future.

I don't think you need to buy one. Throw a few ideas at one of the name checkers and you'll come up with something that fits and is more suitable than the current choice.
