Gonna give the free trial a spin! One thing I am running into with SEO is that is seems to be data intensive. Like running the tools uses a lot of data a bit like watching a movie.

Is this correct?

It depends how many keywords and checks you're doing, but for an average amount I wouldn't think data usage is too much of an issue. It wouldn't be anywhere near video etc.

Thanks for the update Chris.

I am currently using free version of Traffic Travis (find backlinks, Yoast Wp plug in, 1-3 new 300 word articles a week on wordpress cms blog to target long tail keywords (on site SEO).

Also use opensiteexplorer and aherfs to get an idea of my progress.

Gonna play with AWR next. Think it is a paid alternative (for $399.00 lifetime) to opensite, aherfs, and traffic travis all in one?

Cute Rank is not bad http://cuterank.net
Plus you get monitoring of one domain for free.
Also, you can use rank tracker by Scrapebox.www.scrapebox.com/ranktracker-plugin‎
You need to have Scrapebox, but if you do - rank tracker will cost you only 15 bucks.

Any recommendations for a good rank tracker desktop tool that tracks keywords that a website is ranked for in Google?
