Another idea for the site is to have screencasts of some simple 'how-to' lessons.

Camtasia is great for this and I reckon it's a lot easier than having to write out the lesson and use screenshots etc.

Just went to your video page and the video won't load as there is no available plugin

AHHHH SERIOUS? It works perfectly here for the last week, I am not sure what is wrong.

Thanks a million bud, wouldn't have known if you didn't mention this. :) Another thing to add to the list.

Update:

So I still have been overworked with unforseen pressures, so not much has happened, which is as upsetting for me as it is for you guys. So sorry! I will try and make a push soon.

Here is my list of "to dos":
  • Fix video plugin problem
  • Create more videos
  • Create downloads page - for tutorials, support materials, and some of my own software.
  • Adding to the aforementioned downloads, I want to create some things like handy templates for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • More polls! This worked ok.
  • Find affiliate programs to use.
  • Rethink Adsense strategy.
  • PROMOTE!

So I haven't just ignored the site! I have definitely got a "moving forward" strategy. Just have to find time to apply it.

Also, here is my stats so far for May; is this good or bad?

In terms of the stats, they are good in the fact that the page views per visit is good but the question is how many of these are your views? Main thing to check is what keywords are being searched to find the site and go from there to see who are legitimate (eg. not you) visitors

I only have a moment to post but thought you might like to take a quick look at www.howtogeek.com as something to model some ideas on. It is a brilliant website that caters for users of all capabilities.

Another update:

Today I have added a whole lot of links from AffilliateBot.com. These have fairly good commissions, so hopefully that works well.

So I haven't updated you all for a while, which I should have, and I feel terrible letting neddy down like this! I agreed to update you all, so here are some statistics.

Visitors
So far for May:
  • 68 Unique Visitors
  • 218 Site Visits
  • 1383 Page Visits

I would like to see a few more visitors, but I am relatively happy with the page visits, as I think it means I am not losing people straight away.

Does anyone have some more tips regarding actually GETTING visitors? Just continue with the SEO and Directory Submission?

Also, I seem to be getting SO MANY more hits on thursdays than any other day; any idea why, or just coincidence?

Earnings
I'm disappointed with this, and I may be doing something wrong, because I had had ZERO clicks on any of my ads, hence $0 earnings.

How can I try and attract people to the ads? Or do people just click on ads less these days (as proposed by neddy here)?

Site Development
I am having trouble thinking of suitable tutorial topics; If I do simple things, I feel as though I may alienate advanced users quickly, but if I go advanced, they may be confused and click exit.

If someone has a tutorial they would like to see, or suggest, please let me know!

Can anyone recommend a GOOD screen capture software? I can't find a high quality one that is free, and don't feel like forking out $$$ for a few videos which may prove not a hit.

Google Indexing
I am currently ranked 21 on the search of "Computer Lessons" worldwide, so I am happy with this relatively. Can anyone think of ways to boost this up to page 1?

That's all for this week. Thanks everyone! :)

Seperate it into categories.

Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced.

So I am yet to sort into those categories, but I have added a couple of posts.

Also, I am having massive trouble with the videos! Can someone PLEASE recommend a good wordpress plugin and appropriate video format? I need this!

You could always use Vimeo as they look heaps profesional but you're not then hosting the videos themselves

I just noticed that the "Update: Some viewers have indicated problems viewing this video. Please contact us if you have and troubles." has a typo, indicated in bold.

Also, the advertising appears to have changed to an affiliate program. What program is it, may I ask?

Scott you definitely want to upload your videos to the major video portals. Not only will you be using their bandwidth but you will be spreading your viewer reach.

You might want to check out a distribution service such as TubeMogul.
