Very interesting. Thanks Tim.

"57% of smartphone users actively searched on their mobile device after seeing an ad on TV."

 really? I rarely watch Australian commercial TV. Interesting stat.

and...

"24% of Australians smartphone users take their phones with them when shopping to research products, and 22% of them change their minds while in-store about a purchase after completing a mobile search."

I have done this myself on occasions.

I find myself scanning QR codes of things I really have very little interest in, because I can.

i use it in the video shop, you knw how you always forget the name of the movie but you know the main actor, so i jump on and get a list of their movies

my 5 year is on an Ipad at school and my teenager nephews never get off their phones so this next gen of consumers will certainly increase these stats ( at the moment they are just facebooking )

Have any domainers with monetised sites noticed a decline in earnings over the same period that there has been an increase in mobile phone usage?

I understand that advertising does not work so well on smart phones and was wondering if this had an effect on overall Adsense earnings.

I think with mobile phone usage, people behave quite differently than with their normal desktop or laptop browsing. Well I do, and generally am quite specific about what I'm looking at rather than browsing for the sake of it.

While I can't work out my stats on my ads, which I've setup on a few sites (and getting very modest clicks YAY) I have purchased a third party banner serving app which I have installed and the latest release gives me the ability to mix Google ads with affiliate ads and check whether I want to have displayed on mobile apps or not. It's quite handy.

I think you would have to be very specific with your advertising on mobile apps, particularly phones, where the screen size is quite small.

Just my thoughts on the matter...

But what I have noticed now is more and more sites are more mobile friendly than normal desktop friendly... ... it's like a complete flip from where it was not even a year ago.

I think this is a very interesting point you make, i think there is a stealth depletion that is slowly eating away at what we call "websites", if you're willing to spend $5k ++ to get your own mobile solution then you're ok but if not most "free" mobile solutions wipe out most of your ads unless its ONLY ads you place on your site.

bearing in mind that there is a difference between a user viewing a site that isn't mobile optomised and a website that is.

I've got a moably account, a bizzapps account and also a conduit account. They all seem ok, I paid 299.00 for my account, so this is an exceptional deal, and for the money you couldn't do wrong trying it out, but I'd also look at Conduit - http://www.conduit.com they bought wibya a while ago, or one bought the other I don't know, but I do like their new mobile account setup.

but then you're stuck with the ongoing fees,

Hi Tim, this is the wording from their deal...

Q: Is this really a “Lifetime” deal? Is there going to be any other costs that I will need to pay later?
A: Yes, this is a “Lifetime” deal. Pay only once and use the service for life, without any additional costs.

Thanks Nina, will check out the other options.
