ummm, i got a modem, plugged it in and stuck my telephone line into a socket called DSL !
i did a speed test last week before they cut me off, and it was 3.2mps, now its @ 21pbs, same test

i now have the same 3 yellow ports empty as its all wireless and a new WAN red port which is also not in use?

Sounds like FTTN as his phone had downtime, they usually leave the copper service active when connecting FTTP and FTTC
Unless he was porting his phone to the VoIP service and that explains the downtime
He's also getting 20MB probably on a 25/5 connection which explains the 5MB drop through copper, whereas a FTTP usually gets 95% obtainable speed.

The reason you don't use the WAN is because it's for the FTTP NBN box connection

I was with Dodo for my 100/40 and getting 98/39 constant
I work for Dodo by the way

Moved to ADSL only area, rollout map is across the street, staring me down
Dodo and most suppliers use NBN Co for their services so the service doesn't vary
