Are you looking to sell the domain or just a rough idea on what you think it's worth?
Both.

I actually have a potential buyer who is low balling me at the moment. So if you're interested PM me.

And please let me ask you a question. If Valuate "values" it at $2300, would you be prepared to snap it up if it was offered at just $1000?
Great question, and if you are, you should get in touch with me via PM.

;)

i like this name, good exact match with plenty of phrase match. End of last year I might've made an offer but not in a position to do so now.

Hit up some resorts or travel portal types and you could probably get high $xxx / low $xxxx, maybe more since it's a developed site with rankings.
The site is pretty poo - I gave up on it. Wasn't worth spening more time and money on it - I'd mainly be selling the domain - I'd throw site in as a bonus if someone wanted it.

Pretty much any appraisal is a waste of time, especially the automated ones. What really matters is what someone will pay for the domain, and that can vary hugely depending on who the buyers is and what their plans are. There are exceptions, but in most cases valuations are nothing more than an ego thing for the owner of the domain.
I think both buyers and sellers both like to know that their valuations aren't detached from reality, I guess it helps soothe anxiety about making a sale.

Though I agree that most valuations need to be taken with a grain of salt, given that I think most people here tend to post from their perspective, in that they look at the domain and think, well I'd pay $X for it and it's not even in my industry therefore I'm sure you could at least get $Y for it.

if i was a wedding celebrant up north (qld) i think this name would be a ripper, my guesstimate is low $x,xxx perhaps more to the perfect enduser..... it is a great self branding domain name
Well if you find the perfect enduser who is willing to pay $X,XXX or more for the domain I'd definitely cut you in for 20%... the same would go for all my domains.

:D

How so?

Apart from the Alexa ranking, none of the figures you quoted compared to anything I could find. I'm happy to have it explained to me.

Putting Valuate to one side for the moment, given your 13 years experience in the .au space, how much do you appraise the domain to be worth?

Neddy, your better off asking Valuate directly about their algorithms.
My appraisal of the domain name is $2300 using the following
Term frequency: 2,190,000
Search popularity: 40,713
Alexa traffic rank: 14,409,059
Ad competition: low
Avg CPC: $1.87

If developed X 10

Cheers
Corey

Netfleet has an appraisal section for listed names,
maybe need to offer an appraisal service as a separate offering

Yes I was thinking the same as I typed that. I'm no longer with NF but I'm sure the boys are listening - how about it?

Beachweddings.com.au As is $500-$1000

Sounds about right to me

My appraisal of the domain name is $2300 ...

In that case, you'd be crazy to NOT buy it for $1,000 wouldn't you???

Does the fact that weddingphotographers.com.au recently sold for $10,000 make any difference to anyone's valuations?

Not really. I'm in the process of planning a wedding, so I'll give my thoughts...

Wedding photographers is a massive term, and without even looking at the keyword tool you just know it's a category killer.

Beach weddings though... Well I could be wrong, but I reckon most people planning a beach wedding will already know what beach they want.

They won't say "Let's get married on a beach" - "Great idea, I'll Google beach weddings".

More likely they'll say "Let's get married at XYZ beach" - "Great idea, I'll Google XYZ".

I still think it's a good domain and would be perfect for a directory or info based website, but for most end users who specialise in weddings I reckon most would think they'd be better off (in terms of value for money) hand regging XYZweddings.com.au or XYZbeachweddings.com.au.

If it was my business I'd go for the generic of course, but most small businesses of that nature (especially a non-scalable business like a local wedding planner) would probably go with a suitable $20 hand reg over a $1,000+ premium name.

As for an appraisal, it really depends on the buyer, but I guess the $500 to $1,000 range mentioned by the others sounds about right. Maybe in the higher range.

My gut feeling is that weddingphotographers.com.au is a 50x better name, so I guess you could base a valuation off that...?

I agree with most of what you have said Shane, but I thought I'd throw in the Google metrics just to offer people some perspective:

Wedding Photographers - 2400 exacts - 18100 phrase.
Beach Weddings - 1300 exacts - 6600 phrase.

:)

WeddingPhotograhers.com.au is certainly a better name, though I'd debate if it was 50 times better...

The search numbers are closer than I would have thought, but that only tells part of the story.

Someone searching for 'wedding photographers' is going to be looking for a wedding photographer that they'll be paying big dollars.

Someone searching for 'beach weddings' is likely to be searching for information only, and it's not like you have to pay money to the beach.

Wedding photographers has a very clear path to monetisation. I'm certainly not saying your domain cannot be monetised, but it would be nothing like the photographers site.

Maybe 50x is going a bit far, but at the least it would have to be 20x. That gives a value of $500 which is in line with what a few others have suggested.

Good logical rationale Shane. I agree.

Having said that, with a little bit of effort Chris you may well find someone who will pay you $1k plus. Good luck. :)

Have any of you actually seen HOW much a Beach wedding COSTS.
There are already several sites promoting them with costs for some over $5000
for just the celebrant and the couple.
Then there is the Fancy Tropical island Beach Weddings in the Cook islands ,the Las Vegas of the Pacific for Quick but romantic weddings(There is no 1 MONTH waiting period like there is in Australia)

It certainly has the generic words to which it takes one to a direct search path, thus it could be an opportunity to promote it as a directory platform. Even with keywords within google you need to keep updating to follow the trends and pay per click. Good luck!

All things weddings are supposedly highly competitive search terms, however my "wedding" domains are getting "good" traffic while parked
It seems that a developed site will perform well from affiliate revenue & better still from selected direct ads (that should not be too hard to arrange)

You can always use a site builder software generally costs about US$20 per month inclusive of hosting, free 20 emails and you get to view live traffic stats to which keywords users are searching/clicking on to view your site.
If you PM me I can recommend you a site with 10 day free trial.

hi

i agree with shane, most people will search "gold coast beach weddings"

Real value would come if you had developed it as a directory for key beach locations but then the time you spend spend on it might outweigh the end price you get for it. + the SEO challenge would be expensive either in time or money.

for my clients i register location domains eg: lismoreoptometrist.com.au or rockhamptonwatercoolers.com.au , this gives them a head start and it may be years before they have to pay for SEO.

value, well i looked at the site and you have done nothing with it so basically someone would be buying an empty block of land, the value would come from finding the RIGHT person which could take time.

No ranking on google, no PR, no content, no mailing list, no clients, no forward bookings.

i'll give you $300

I love the "it's no good, but I'll buy it for $XXX"...

Dig deeper - I've already offered Chris a little more than that. ;)
Many parties have since offered more than that...

;)

I've had many parties contact me about this domain since posting this thread that I'm starting to think I should just start putting up domains for appraisal for the sake of drumming up business...

i don't think the words " its no good " were mentioned , the context is that you have done nothing with it and if you did or do it would be worth more, thus i made an offer of its present value to me. thats all.

whoever buys it still has to work it to get a return, you have given the domain no "goodwill"

thus to me its worth $300, and when someone buys it for more then that they should contact me to kick start it into a money earner.

i like the banter, i'm only a member of a few (3) forums all of which are VERY factual about code and programming so there is RARELY any emotion in responses from them so please be patient with me on my first day into this forum.
