What will be the process of registering .au domains?

Let's say that Person A had example.com.au registered, Person B has example.org.au registered and Person C has example.net.au registered. Who has preference / first dibs on registering example.au? Or how does it work? And, in the scenario that Person B registered example.org.au about 6 months ago but and is running an active website on it, whereas example.com.au was registered several years ago but has no website, who would get first dibs on registering example.au?

Again, I'm sorry for the noob question but I'm just trying to understand how this is going to work. Thanks.

Basically it creates a mini market for each contested domain whereby the owners can make or take offers from each other.

A guaranteed shit storm where the only winners are the lawyers.... and .net.au owners.

Only a lawyer could have come up with this farce.... I mean money making opportunity.

The perfect solution for something that wasn't broken.

(A) gets the priority rights unless (c) registered their domain prior the Feb 2018.

If (c) is registered prior then they are category (1) and battle it out until they agree, if they don't agree they pay a yearly fee until one doesn't pay.

Remember though, these names are near worthless and the extension will fail in the marketplace.

When nobody has heard of something it is easy to say it was actually a success :)

It's absolutely absurd they (auDA board) decided to run a direct registration "campaign" to promote its benefits without having finalised the actual licensing rules for it.
