The rising popularity of .Com in Australia

You made the claim .net is second rate. Where's your evidence? You have none of course.
  • domain name sales results
  • placement of .net in a google search for any country
  • amount of companies using .net
  • .net was the left overs.. the couldn't not get the .com followers..
  • Everyone in the world knows .com is the best extension in the world... Highest value highest global recognition...

Post the data David, you made a big claim and I believe you have no hope of backing it up.

Which other country codes have seen their main extension decline 6-7% like .co.uk has seen?

.com.sg has lost 5% in just two years, .sg has grown 8% in the same time, but the total number of registrations has still fallen.

Cheers, that tallies up with .co.uk roughly, i.e. the new extensions growth comes at the expense of the old with no actual overall growth.

... which has only been happening in the past two years. Prior to this, both were steadily growing alongside each other.

Thanks, I'm planning to do some analysis on this tld next week, its a great example I think.

The ccTLD market is definitely slowing and I believe it's due to the introduction of newTLD's.

Our customers are either choosing a newTLD OR a ccTLD, rarely both.

I have had experince in the Singapore spac for a very long time boith as supply resellers and demand registrant.

The Singapore namespace is government run. Admin and wholesale registry.

They often have FREE Singapore name giveaways and also most often it is buy a .com.sg get the .sg FREE

Their systems are flawed in many ways behind auDA.

So you're saying there's only one TLD - .com. What a load of crap.

Let the record show that David Goldstein will never be willing to back up the argument he has made below with data. His only strategy now is distraction & tangents such as the above comment. The data he claims he has seen is non existent and he knows it.

That's hilarious coming from someone who consistently shows they've no idea of the domain name industry. They rant and stamp their tiny little feet, and the only thing they do is show their ignorance.

Keep on avoiding the question David,

"Which other country codes have seen their main extension decline 6-7% like .co.uk has seen?"

David besides pulling information off from other people's domain name feeds or domain name related stories and compiling it on your own websites as some form of domain name news let me ask you;
  1. What is your actual Supply class domain name experience. For what domain name extensions?
  2. What is your Demand experience? For what domain name extensions?
  3. How many .com, .sg, .hk, .uk, .nz, .com.au .net names have you ever registered yourself?
  4. How much did auDA pay you over the years? Why did thy cancel this arrangement after so long?
  5. How much is Ausregistry paying you now? Do you feel any conflict of interest how you write here or in other places? Where are your disclosures?
  6. Why do you refuse to answers Snoopy's valid questions and instead turn to some form of childish put down? Do you not know Snoopy's domain name portfolio, income from it and years of domain name industry real experience in the game not on the bench as an "outsider" watcher reporting it ( in limited capacity so not to affect or upset organisations who pay you perhaps?)

David why do you use www.DomainPulse.com and NOT the Australian .au extension www.DomainPulse.com.au?

Nothing at all here www.DomainPulse.com.au ... Not even a url redirect to the .com?

If I was auDA who was paying you before to promote the .au namespace and .au news etc I would have asked this..?

How are you supporting the .au namespace and all of the other domain name extensions yourself really?

I see someone else has the www.DomainPulse.net ?

AUDA should take note of this chart from last year's survey,

The most popular response by far is that people want to register a domain when they have an idea, not after they have registered a business (obtained an ABN). Another reason why .com is gaining ground on .com.au, it doesn't have the speed humps.
