it always amazes me of the 3 standards of service companies give.
1) pre sale bliss
2) you are now a customer so you just go into the mix
and 3) leaving them shit fight !

i've always sung the praise of hostgator but now its time to move and i have been slowly doing it but last week i set in motion the move of @ 100 websites ( 2 x 50 sets ) , so it takes me 3 hours on help to get some one to tell me the easy way to "cpanel move" that many domains, then a slow reply saying that they are ready for download.
so i start but it was the weekend so took my time, got almost all the way through as the download speed from them was 74 bps !!!! and this morning i get an email saying my "72 hours is up and can't download any more......" and this closing statement " Moving forward, we can not guarantee the existence of either the backup or the account on the server."

disappointed

I would have asked for the new host to do it but failing that there are numerous companies with high speed internet that could take care of it for you.

i have previously used overseas based hosting companies and the biggest issue I have had is latency. terrible latency! I have also found that you cant expect much if you are paying $50 a year.
Tim (based on the fact that you run a heap of client websites) I would look at renting a managed server (so they are responsible for keeping the server going) from a reputable Australia provider and running your own client hosting, or alternatively look at some Australian based business level hosting eg. Ventra / Synergy, Bulletproof etc.

Support the Aussie Hosts!! These days they are just as competitive as the US.

I have been using VentraIP / Synergy for over 3 years both VPS and Multi-Hosting. Its has been great and their ticket based support usually answered within the hour whatever time of day or time.

What is the big secret Tim?
Is there a reason you choose to not disclose who you are moving to?
Just curious Tim

i was once, i had a vps which i found annoying as i prefer someone else to fix any issues rather then me, i like my present decision.
the only reason i had it was a client forced me to have one and we paid for 2 years upfront to get a discount but after 2 years they couldn't see value in the expense so they are currently on hostgator without any problems.
it was a very active domain but now its pretty quiet for them and its just a corporate site. not ecom

Yes, I have done the same. Moved from VPS to Multi-Host for this reason (don't have time to manage VPS).

What I was saying before is that netvirtue seems (100%) to be reselling VentraIP / SynergyWholesale services.

Only domains, not actual hosting they manage that all themselves. :)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with value add that netvirtue do for their clients. I had similar business for 11 years and couldn't get rid of my clients. Good service is everything! And I'm satisfied with VentraIP direct. :D
