Google AdWords Removes Right Hand Side Ads

Last week, Google removed all of the right hand side ads on the search results pages and now only includes 4 ads at the top of the page, and some down the bottom.

Beginning Friday 19 February, ads will now only show ads at the top and bottom of the SERP. Although it may increase the number of ads from three to four if the search query is “highly commercial.”

There's been a lot of talk about these changes, has anyone seen any major impact on their SEM campaigns?

so where do those who were on the right side go? just keep bidding until they get listed? how are they expected to gain credibility with quality ads if nobody sees them?
i always considered the right side to be the "apprentice" area until you hit the top.
there will be alot of happy SEO sellers telling their customers they need to increase their budgets and thus get more commission along the way.

I don't think it will help organic rankings. I think this is about maximising the CTR on the top ads.

The bit on the right opens up more space for googles next lot of products. By getting rid of it for now. They squash complaints, and increase competition for above and below the search results. You still find sponsored eCommerce content in the right sidebar, they are also now putting sponsored apps here. And other future content. Also note that there is an increasing amount of logged in users. I stay mainly logged in, And I don't see ads above or below. But logged out I do see them. So I'm assuming your google account will play a big part of your decision to advertise or not using their platform.

Did you know Facebook is looking for websites to advertise their 2.5 million advertisers on.

Has google Ads seen the way of the Yellow Pages?

YouTube ads are starting to get real irritating... Minutes in length and unskippable in more and more cases

yeh, my MUTE button is warn out :)
and generally totally unrelated to anything you would be interested in so there's no filtering going on, if it was your campaign you'd really have to look at your CTR
