Pack address updated from???

This is a weird one. My client noticed his phone number had changed from the 1300 number to a landline number in his 7 pack rankings. On closer inspection the address had changed too.

Now while he has changed address we hadn't made in changes in local nor had we updated any citations, though we had discussed it, it wasn't on the top of our to do list. There is one mention of the new address on whitepages however I do not believe this correlates as different phone numbers are displayed AND the address on wp is actually incorrect. i.e. they listed it as xxx/xx instead of x/xx

Now I consider myself a bit of an expert on local. I normally kill it. But this has me stumped. Could a competitor have submitted the change to Google?

Not sure if this answers your question, but I have seen Google create these kinds of things automatically. Obviously when other local directories still have the NAPs as the old address for example.

If you are saying a competitor did this, then are you saying try created another google listing? Or somehow submitted changes for your existing listing?

Maybe someone you don't know about still have access to the goolge account?

The data on Local can also be pulled from 3rd party listings like Yellow Pages/ White Pages and other authority citations. My advice is to update all old citation data with the new number/ address. I have seen data be pulled from the wrong sources on a few cases in the past. Also make sure everything is 100% verified in your Google Places Local account.

You can submit changes to a google Maps listing which Google then has to verify. Again, long story but he shares a building with a notorious SEO firm that want my rankings for their client etc etc.

There's no other Google account apart from my management account and the clients.

The thing is, we had discussed doing the move a couple of months ago. I listed all citations in a spreadsheet for him however it was decided we would hold off as he maybe moving again and the mail was redirected. Google is essentially forcing us to act immediately. On top of this, I see his address extensions have been removed (adwords). That is, as if they never existed. Since it's part of my initial set up for Adwords I know it was there.

I spent another exhaustive search yesterday for the citation culprit to no avail. I suspect Google is actually pulling data from a private source. Like Dun & Bradstreet for example. I'd love to know what it is but I haven't been able to locate it so far.

Anyone have any ideas on similar (private) data providers?
I can't waste much more time searching but would obviously be beneficial as the citations seem to really have zero affect (on top of the fact that the onsite address in correct scehma form AND )

Just search for the number on Google and the old address and see what comes up. You can file complaints via Google Local tho support is VERY slow even if you are a HUGE adwords customer.
