Hey guys,

I'm trying to build a PBN with what SEO knowledge I have. I have looked into requirements and such and costs but I was wondering.

1. Are there people out there that will build a PBN for you for a cost?
2. What tools are best to find niche category within SEO without paying for MOZ
3. Should I trust free domain tools to figure out the best domains to pick up expired/auction?
4. What tools would you use to research these domains?
5. Do the domains have to be niche related for the website to rank or can I build a generic PBN?

Thanks!

I guess what I'm saying is to me they seem like some thing that worked 3-4 years ago, before Google went on a rampage.

I know I'm not the only one that utilised them.

But if you know otherwise, please share..

If you dont have the money to pay for MOZ and you want to build a PBN I am sorry it is not going to work and it will probably get hit hard,
Here are factors Google looks for when picking up PBNs -

1. Google accounts: does the website have numerous analytic’s or webmaster tools accounts linked via the website network?
2. Advertising code been the same: If the network of websites has similar advertising code such as Google Adwords or Amazon affiliate it can be spotted as been on the same network.
3. Outbound links: Are the outbound links on the website similar it can also show similar patterns.
4. Inbound links: Does the website have a similar pattern of inbound links?
5. Hosting & WHO IS details: Are the hosting details or who is details similar it can trigger a similar pattern.
6. Web design profile been similar: If the web design template is the same across sites it can show it is similar.
7. CMS elements been similar: If the website is on the same CMS it can trigger similarity.
8. Similar contact details across websites: Are the contact details similar on the website.
9. Social profiles on the website: Do you have Twitter and Facebook profiles which are similar across the websites?
10. Mail servers: Are the mail servers similar across websites?

Now their are 10 things Google can track you on more info here - http://jamesnorquay.com/ex-googlers-competitive-seo-research-tool-you-have-to-try/
I would invest your time into building a long term business on SOLID foundations with a Solid link profile which has a long term vision.
PBN's are very 2006

If you're doing affiliate websites or you don't mind the churn and burn approach, PBNs can still be effective.

If you're looking to rank a website or build a brand around the name then I'd recommend following James' advice.

You could probably do better by paying for traffic from Adwords, with some remarketing etc. Or go one better and create a comprehensive content marketing strategy.

But if you have plenty of domains to burn then PBNs are the way to do it. Just pick up a heap of domains with backlinks on the drops and spin the same five articles drop links out to the money site.
They are pretty easy to spot by man and machine, and if you care about your money site, you might not want to get it slapped by Google.

My take on it is, just do the math. I mean how many links to you need from these PBNs? How much does it cost you to acquire each domain name. Then you need to take all the measures above that James mentioned so you don’t get slapped down straight out of the starting gate. So it may no longer be a cheap and easy exercise.
If you have a site that is worth spending SEO time and money on, then best putting in some decent effort and doing it properly, it is probably not that much different in cost, and in the long run much better results.

Plus if people know you are doing PBNs to outrank competitors, you might lose cred and competitors might not be so happy with what you are doing to outrank them.

For what it is worth there are plenty of great quality genuine links out there to be got without needing to create fake ones to trick the search engines.

Anyways that's my $0.02
