After some feedback from DNT members Netfleet did at one point highlight misspellings with an 'MS' but I think it disappeared with their design update some time ago.
Honestly, it should be a bit of a wake up call to not be registering these clear TM domains. Your whole portfolio may be subject to audit if you continuously do so. Just calling it how I see it, don't take it to heart.

FPR - I can't believe Netfleet have taken the MS symbol off their listings. They are knowingly selling these names, knowing they will be confiscated. This is crazy. I am getting a refund for my flybys.com.au name.
And auDA are just letting all the newbies hop on the same roller-coaster. No other industry would stand for this.

I must say with you being a "Domain Name Broker" you should know better.
There's a 48 hour grace period too isn't there where a domain name registration can be cancelled?
I know on a couple of occasions my fat fingers has made me register a typo, and the registrar have (after registration) cancelled the domain name and refunded my funds.
Wasn't NF though.

You are right Johno, there is a grace period, if you contact the registrar within that people they can delete the domain and get you a refund.

auDA don't provide registrars with when this list updates so unless you go looking at the list randomly there is a chance registrars won't have the most up to date data.
Registry gives all registrars 5 days.

Thank you for all the advice guys. This seems like a great community. I am in the process of auditing my domain names, now that I know more about the industry. I will drop the names I now believe I should not have purchased. I plan on being a valued member of this community, as I am already enjoying buying and selling legitimate domain names for the purposes of domain monetisation and to help my clients advance their business exposure online.

robert i don't think macdonalds is an analogy, just look in the phone phone and many legitimate surnames are listed that would skip past auda with no issues
macdonalds car repairs, could own it.
ash: the utube threads are a great read for anyone, but also if you "made tubes that where U in shape" then you'd be ok

i just can't believe you actually bid !!! , seems it is now with coles group which is its rightfull place IMO, i think you dodged a bullet.
i also think coles shouldn't have to go purchase these rubbish off shots of their brands that have been around since the late 80's

Two years later and a lot of experience and I believe Flybys.com.au should never have appeared on the prohibited misspellings list in the first place. Once pointed out to auDA, they should have removed it from the silly list. Shady protection for mass corporations and double-dipping is still prominent in this industry.
Something has to be done.
I am going to write about this over the next few days at Domainer.com.au

a point i believe not mentioned before...... if you have a really BAD sus domain you'd be better off requesting a delete to get rid of it quickly, waiting 8 months for it to expire still puts you at risk of trouble.
on a slightly different note, beware auto-renew on domains you do not plan to renew as many registras do it days in advance and you may not notice, its happened to me as the timeframes ran out.
i contacted auda and although helpful in following up they said in the end they couldn't do anything.

Tim, you have 3 calendar day grace period. I have used this policy in the past.. great auDA policy. I guess its up to your registrar if they want to refund you or not. auDA will refund your registrar.

i'd have to go back to the emails as it was a few years ago but it was something like they renewed prior to expire and i just thought the'd expire until i noticed it pop up on my credit card which i don't check daily ! by then it was a few days after so almost a week and they "crazyD" said "tough" thats when i contacted auda, they went through it and said " no can do"
if i didn't have them on autorenew i wouldn't have had a problem.

Not sure why you're quoting me two years later, but yes, I did drop the names right away TWO YEAR AGO by requesting my registrar to do so at the time. (I bet you'll even try to explain it) Good idea though not to hold onto names you think are "sus".
