I created a thread here

I seriously am not sure what to do here.

Further, the term conveyancing has dropped 10 positions (as of today) although it was never a term we actually worked on much.

The main issue I have is, if the attack is long and protracted, am I or the client expected to continually disavow links ? It's the same as you can't be expected to continually re-write scraped content.

Yeah seems like quite a big attack on the site, I had a look at the link profile -

Seems they targeted multiple ares -

1. Foreign language spam
2. Exact match domain spam
3. Even some URL spam from the look of it

We have clients who have also been hit, it is not good, Google needs to be doing more to help those who are hit.

this has been going on for YEARSSSSSSSSS , but it is really SCARY , you work so hard and some competitor does it, with outsourcing its almost impossible to track down who.

there are people on freelancer, odesk, elance that will do it for you and are making good money from it ( i would never do it )[ byron bay karma ]

and i agree with James where google needs to be more active in this, google seems to presently be " guilty until proven innocent " but it must be so difficult to monitor the WORLD of websites.

i could go do it right now, go to fiverr and ask for neg seo to a site, the person is in blaland, then get another to do the same from blandia, and another from blaetnam

its terrible, and not to steal the topic this also is happening in adwords rankings.

best of luck helloworld, i thought your letter was very well presented and will be very interested to see what happens next.

So a massive part of yesterday was sluething.

After extracting the links from ahrefs, I looked for .com.au back links. The first one I found I found was owned by Australias most famous web spammers.

So looking at other links that had been placed on that site I contacted a few other .com.au sites that had been targeted.

I rang a few and finally found one that would speak to me. Others took me as some kinda sales/marketing call although I pre-empted the conversation with "this is not a sales or marketing pitch".

The guy I spoke to however, had been advised by his SEOs that they had also noticed the links and had been disavowing.

He had also lost his ranking from places entirely (as had my client) in the same time frame. Other terms of his had also been pushed down.

To further back up my case, I asked him which domains in his vertical were relatively new and had come up the ranks in a short time. He gave me 2 links.

After checking one url, I scroll to the bottom of page and found the "articles" link. Here we go I thought. They always use articles, instead of blog.

I click on the blog and sure enough there are the links to the other non related sites and then an article. I didn;t need to look further to know who I was dealing with.

Oddly enough my adwords rep rang and I posed the question to him. He is fairly new and wasn't fully accross it but has promised to follow up with his boss who he says knows the web spam team.

In Australia it comes down to anti competition laws imo. Which is why instead of just disavowing I really want to get to the bottom of the culprit and then take them to court.

Another thing you can do is look for Referrals on a neg SEO attack via Google Analytics, you can extract sites like Fiverr who sell Neg SEO.

I've been seeing more of it too.

Would be interested to hear what they come back with, hope you get on top of it...

Cheers,
Chris

Yep. Will update this post. I have had some decent follow ups from Google in the past including a tech from their Places dept. Which you can never normally speak to

I doubt adwords team will help you here. They don't like to get involved across departments...
I would create daily google alert with your main term and check the links every day and disavow domains which are bad. That way you exclude the links google already indexed and don't care about the rest. Pretty soon you will figure out bad domains without visiting them. You may also use google alerts for prospecting links ;)

So the nSEO fully kicked in yesterday afternoon. All no1 rankings have been dropped to around 8th or gone completely.

Netik you were partially correct. I was sent a link to sejournal and tghen another one to a matt cutts video from 2012.

Sigh.

Coincedently the adwords rep rang yesterday about something else and he mentioned that they had received an internal mail about a new nSEO product coming to GWT. Probably a little to late.

So anyway, I have a list of bad links. Possibly not all of them. But I'm just getting an error from GWT saying the file has to be .txt and utf8 or ansci which it is. So nfi.

So anyway, Negative SEO works. Why bother putting time into SEO when you can just take down the competition in this manner.

Utter BS. I am so disillusioned right now and could lose the client. eh

Oh yeah, if you want my opinion on the culprit of this negative SEO campaign the answer lies here http://thomasjewellersmelbourne.com.au/?p=14

This is obviously a dropped domain. The owner is none other than web marketing experts who have been gunning for our terms.

You will find a link to my clients site here, posted in June.

On top of that, you can't actually post your own comment on that board.

You just get the following error "

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /wp-comments-post.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request

Although comments have been posted as of yesterday afternoon.

What a bunch of cocksmokers.
