at this moment that graph isn't of any value because of how long .net.au has been around compared to the others.

thousands of people jumping off a cliff doesn't make it a good idea

It is basically comparing one variety of turd with another.

Almost no market for these names and users of .net.au tends to centre around people who don't care that much about the (bad) decision. i.e. the big users are government supported/not making money and the small users are Jim's fish and chip shop who registered their name in 10 minutes after the Friday shift. What extension they use will barely effect their business. Even not having a website would have almost no effect.

The same sort of stuff can be seen in other extensions but as Tim says lots of people making the same mistake doesn't make it a good idea.

Of course the graph is silly but so are some of the comments i'm reading lately. Yes from a domaining point of view hard to achieve a sale that will buy a good feed of fish and chips yet Suzy's Seashells seems happy to have a small website (please note Suzy's Seashells will be the next Dubbo Dentist mark my words)
