i have a big white space across the top of my IE11
http://screencast.com/t/mMNSsHkhI

cross browser is vital now and its also causing me huge pains with my sites.

trying to get a website correct for every numb nuts computer setup in the world is very difficult !

i'll give you my advice for 2014, if you do a site for someone FIRST ask them what computer system they will be viewing your work on, this will give you the opportunity to prevent BS changes for old browsers and old systems like XP or old Mac versions.

back to the website:

i give it a 4/10, BUT i think you are one the right track, as always i think you need more content before pushing people to paypal, i find the BIG homepage text diffult to read to the point i ignore it

needs more work

My feedback :
1. Writing is hard to read on the busy background picture
2. Any need to say 'Melbourne based business' so prominently? can't see that affecting anyone's purchasing decision for an online Aussie website.
3. It's not obvious that you can scroll down to see the product. Maybe put an arrow or say something like scroll down to see more.

Fair bit of scrolling for just 3 products.

(This might not be your taste, but this is a SUPER QUICK sketch of what I would do. Easy call to action.)

yes benwalker i totally agree

you could do semi transparent frosted fields

the logo means nothing as its ALL about sales push.

melbourne means nothing, i'd probably even do a background transition slider of every capital city

i KNOW this has nothign to do with your products but here is an example of a good use of backgrounds IMO

HTML:

thats just another quick review.

spinning ideas really !

PS: i still think you need product info not just BUY NOW, i feel this is VITAL to conversions

Thanks guys! Heaps of useful information!

The white bar is where the title usually goes, Im waiting for the theme owner to respond on how to remove it.

I could reduce the font and chuck a background behind text

Change melbourne based to Australia or something, need to show im not a chinese seller

See im not that great at changing the layout of websites, as I use themes, But that sketch looks way better layout.

Im going to put the information before the purchase buttons, and also include extra pics of the actual item

As well I want to format the information regarding the item better

Transition of backgrounds of australian cities would he great

Ill get cracking after I wear off my hangover tomorrow

Thanks

helena just came home and i asked her:

"will you buy from a site that says it has battery 23456 or do you want to know the specs" ?

her answer was " i want the specs, even if i don;t read them totally "

you have to have some info about what you are selling to get the sales IMHO

I'm sorry but I think it needs a lot of work and I wouldn't buy from it. The page is too long, no content, what's with the wording on the top of the screen when the page is loading - seo?, lose the image of melbourne and the melbourne business wording over it and have some images of the product with flashy appealing background colours or clean cut white along the lines of apple since this is an add-on for their product. Maybe have a look at magento go theme templates which would be perfect for this.It needs more pages!

Horshack, which Magneto theme are you speaking of? Yes I understand the page is too long, exactly what I thought. I'm still waiting of decent images from the seller to place on website. Not going to use an Apple as the image is not allowed to be used without permission correct?

Yeah there's just so many, I need a store that support three/four products, as they aren't selling much. Don't want it to look empty with space for all these extra products.

That's all

choosing your ecom path is a VITAL decision

everyone has their favourites, magento, oscommerce, woocommerce, bigcommerce etccccccc so i would suggest you do ALOT of research before choosing one.

first things i look at is freight calculations ( flat rate, weight, cubic, auspost bag )and the plugin cost of that function, next is payment gateways and that cost ( how are you going to get paid ? ).

I'm using woocommerce and have with my other websites. I've set up Credit Card payments and Paypal already. That's easy implementation.

I just wish I could find a theme with a simple layout, the same as above template you have provided.

Everything seems to be for 10+ products and different categories.

woocommerce, good !

you don't have to have a database dynamic homepage, you can still hard code it in html/php and place your ONLY 4 products, then once they click they just get fed into the product purchase area.

r u doing yourself? AND if you are and don't know what i mean then PM me for a guy that will do it for you at a good price
