What to do with DROP.net.au?

I have a few .net.au domain names which I'm looking at setting up using Wordpress based on the domain name subject. You've got the domain name for 2 years now so you may as well look at using it for monetisation if no one wants to buy it.

Once it's an established website you may find other parties are interested in negotiating a price?

Good to hear. I have a lot of ideas for the domain content. I think the comments by some that all .net.au is worthless is way off the mark.

I've had a few .net's which i've been able to monetise very nicely. I don't think it matters too much. It's just re-sale of the .net domains which is probably less attractive.

good comments. the net's started out aimed at ISP/IT/Tech but now seem to attract sites that function like social networking, databases etc.

Hi Andrew
Some members have hijacked this thread. What was gossip about business plans for net.au degraded with the first few member comments.
I have asked for it to be deleted so that members don't get away with publishing libel. Safe to say the trolls have convinced me not to engage the dntrade community again.

i'd be interested to see the list of trolls please

Good to hear. I have a lot of ideas for the domain content. I think the comments by some that all .net.au is worthless is way off the mark.

I've sold maybe a dozen .net.au's over a period of 4-5 years. Only two of those sales have produced decent returns (low $X,XXX), and the other's have been lucky to pass the $200 mark. One of the sales was because I sold an established website with the domain, and the other was because I got lucky (I don't think I could achieve the same result today).

I've since droppped probably 2 dozen other .net.au's in the last 18 months, as I no longer see value in them and I can't see myself buying any more.

You asked why Drop wouldn't be interested in the name, and the stark reality is that in most peoples opinion .net.au's just aren't that good.

Also, it's a common scenario that "newbies" come on DNT thinking their domains and red hot, and then get brought back down to earth. There is only so much we can sugar coat things.. :)

I hope that you will stick around, learn and contribute.

FirstPageResults, great post, it's also how you use the domain names that count and if you have the time to see it through from start to finish.

2. which exact "member comments" degraded this thread?
3. which members published comments you consider to be libel?
