Netfleet Parked Pages -video script suggestions

I said that the development was slated for July/August and quotes are compiled, video production company almost chosen - now we're into the video scripting.

I would like to use the combined domainer sales & marketing knowledge (as well as Chris's generous offer from https://www.dntrade.com.au/netfleet-com-au/6166-any-data-nf-parking-pages-2.html) in the forum to ensure we cover all of the salient points for our new parked pages video.

We want our parked pages to be talking to the end user, to make the sales process simply and undaunting to the end user, to be a vehicle for your domain sales and to be an additional tool for YOU and YOUR SALES.

I'm asking for all selling points you would like to see included. I will endeavour to cover all of them and will advise release dates for the new parked pages.

In addition to the video, our parked pages will be re-designed to ensure maximum exposure.

Guys - you have carte blanche - you have the floor - please let me know all of your ideas asap (before 23rd August would be ideal).

If you'd prefer not to post here, email me fleurf (at) netfleet.com.au.

Thanks in advance - looking forward to seeing the suggestions.

If you guys had been listening to Chris. C and others post on this issue over the past year you would not need to ask us again to do your job for you.

Seriously??? What's with the incredible negativity? Damned if we do, damned if we don't! With some members, it wouldn't matter what we did, we would always be wrong!

FYI, I WAS actually listening to AND responding to Chris C who as recently as July offered to share some of his professional selling tips for the video.

Please note: we're making these improvements for both the industry AND YOUR sales - Netfleet single handedly do more for our collective sellers on the aftermarket than any other public platform. Period.

Bottom line - if you've no constructive input on this thread, there's no gun to your head - just don't respond.

If you do, however, have constructive comments, I'm looking forward to hearing from you either here or via email.

I have thrown this benefit list together really quickly.

I think it needs to be added to and refined, but I just wanted to get something down on paper so we could make some progress:

Exact match bonus - generic keyword rich domains still have significant benefits when to comes to ranking higher in Google SERPs for related terms.

Higher CTR in Google SERPs when keywords search appear in the domain.

Reduced CPC with AdWords from higher CTR and higher positioning in AdWords from higher CTR placing you above the competition.

Great for branding because keyword rich domains are easier to recall than a business name.

Premium domains improve marketing returns for TV, radio and billboard advertising - eg in radio ads you want to mention your point of contact at least three times to increase recall and that takes time so a domain like beachweddings.com.au is both quickly said and because it is generic and highly related to the product it greatly increases recall.

Great brands can be built around premium domains with the use of traditional marketing mediums eg realestate.com.au, carsales.com.au, etc

Instant natural type in traffic for free - whilst this is less common for AU domains than COMs it is still very typical to get 1 - 2% of monthly exacts as type ins.

More and more customers are moving online - you want to own the premium online real estate to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage rather than your competition owning it.

One of the biggest reasons to buy premium domain names is because they do offer sustainable competitive advantages and you don't want your competition having advantages over you.

Another major threat to most businesses as they move online is Google itself. Having a highly branded domain name that customers can remember mean you are less reliant on Google for your traffic (customers) adn can get a greater share of direct type ins of your brand.

If your customers can only find you by looking you up in Google you are at the mercy of Google and its ranking algorithms (which change and in the worst case scenarios you can be banned). Eg if realestate.com.au was banned from Google tomorrow they would still be one of the biggest real estate websites because they have built a brand around a generic keyword domain name that was highly brandable and most users type their URL into their browsers directly.

Premium domains win you instant respect, authority and credibility in the eyes of users. Ie, if you are the owner of the category killing domain they assume you must be a serious player in that industry - eg news.com.au. In a world where reputation matters buying a premium domain is the fastest way to impress potential customers and signal quality helping you command a premium price in the market.

A premium generic domain is the fastest way for a business to expand into new niches within their industry. Ie if your business traditionally only sold "sports shoes" but you see an opportunity to expand your product range to now include "comfort shoes" many of you customers will be unaware of this change and will have associated your brand with sports shoes and re-educating them is costly, takes a long time and may harm your current brand as being an authority on "sport shoes". Launching a new site on a premium domains like comfortshoes.com.au would allow you target this specific niches, win new customers without impacting your current brand.

Having additional website on premium domains allows your businesses to rank for your most important keywords more than once in Google helping you cannablise the market and push your competitors down further in the rankings.

In the online world the tendency is for a "winner takes all environment" - eg:

  • name two other vidoe streaming sites other than youtube?
  • name two other real estate listing sites other than realestate.com.au?
  • name two other car sales listing sites other than carsales.com.au?
  • name two other social networking sites other than Facebook?
  • name two other search engines other than Google?
Having a premium domain name like realestate.com.au, carsales.com.au, news.com.au greatly increases your chances of becoming this "winner".

What differentiates realestate.com.au from domain.com.au? Or carsales.com.au from carsguide.com.au? Nothing except that everyone goes to the former instead of the latter, and RealEstate.com.au and CarSales.com.au have become multibillion dollar businesses that have been listed on the Australian stock exchange and the others are struggling for viability.

There are only a limited number of these premium domains in each industry and once competitors acquire them they will be gone forever.

Many major companies are realising the strategic benefits of acquiring domains to keep them off their competition including RealEstate.com.au, CarSales.com.au, WoolWoorths, Flight Centre etc - the leading Australian companies can't be wrong.

Domains prices are going up faster than any other asset class as more and more businesses are recognising how critical they are for the future of their businesses.

Australian businesses should be buying AU domains because Google is localising their search results and prioritising Australian domains.

There are also established platforms (like NetFleet) where domain owners can quickly liquidate their domains for a reasonable return if required. So domains aren't a sunk cost - they can be divested give buyers peace of mind that that they can recoup their capital (or maybe even make money) if their business plans change.

Buying premium generic domains future proofs your business even if you aren't ready to expand online today.

Already two million AU domains have been registered and the best domains are already gone, but many of them can still be bought for a fraction of the value of what they would bring to your business, but the word is spreading so be quick.

Hundreds of AU domains are already being bought and sold for thousands of dollars every month.

With @Jonathan Gleeson arrival at NetFleet I thought I would bump this thread back up to both offer some food for thought and restart the conversation on some of these past NetFleet projects that stalled.
