thanks bluewren, i was having this EXACT convo with a client today.

the reality is its just built in to the price but the mental process takes over.

Yes, Ezra Firestone, (an ecom guy) suggests upping your prices slightly to cover the free shipping aspect for this reason. It's a balance however.

balance: YEP, i have a client that said they would do free shipping and i said WTF, they sell pallets of stock across australia !!!!, but they said no thats what we want to do.

2 months later they had to pay me big bucks to do a very complex freight calculation.

if you are selling jewellery online then free shipping is easy, if you are selling BRICKS then you have to rethink that.
