You didn't buy it to sell it but you just bought and now you want to sell it; but only for a good profit ????

I don't want to be the elephant in the room but from the posts above, it sounds like you bought it to sell it. I'm not being nasty, Zach (I actually think the rule's a joke!) but be careful what you write in forums.

Hi CyberClick,

FYI, I bought a treadmill last year, that I decided I didn't feel like spending 30 minutes a day on, after a couple of weeks. I still wanted to sell it for a good price. That's called human nature.

I am careful what I write in forums, which is why I asked my initial question. Thank you for your concern, but not for your aspersion. You cast it, clear as day. I'm not being nasty either, but it is unfounded and certainly unappreciated.

I'll be careful not to ask questions that are about domain trade in a forum with this very name, if this is how people react.

It was great listening to helpful folks for a while there. Thanks to all who were open and decent enough to help a newcomer understand how things do and don't fly in this arena.

Zach.

Hi Zach,

I don't think the feedback was aimed at you asking questions in general, but rather giving you advice that could help you avoid getting into hot water.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey, CyberClick,

If you were genuinely trying to help you'd have PM'ed that to me. Instead you just publicly came on and stated, 'it sounds like you bought it to sell it,' which, while uncharitable to me, doesn't say a lot to me about the quality of your motives.

I don't see the thrill in pointing fingers at people, like that, publicly, myself. I shan't be doing that to other newbies, if I'm in a position to offer advice down the track, someday. It's frankly just presumptuous and insulting.

I'd close the thread if I knew how. But unfortunately I don't.

Thanks Chris.

I was wondering if you would see this.

It's not even a matter of contention that It was CyberClick's unambiguous opinion on my motives, In this public forum, that seemed designed to put me in hot water.

What harm was I doing asking for opinions in this thread?

It's all a bit too cloak and dagger in everyone's minds. I know the regulations and I don't think they're a joke, but asking questions is apparently somehow risky, so I'd better stay well out of the target range.

Thank you for everything, by the way. You and many others, such as Tim, Ned and Johnny have made being a part of this community a worthwhile experience. I'd rather it not become a regrettable one, for me, so I'll clam up, to avoid future questioning of my veracity.

Zach.

Hi Chris.

I just found this,

'This area is now an "encouragement only" zone.

DN Trade can sometimes be an intimidating place for newcomers. That is why the Newbie Area was created. It is an easy going space for beginners to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing their thoughts on buying, selling and developing .au domains.

The Newbie Area is not just for newcomers. We would encourage all DN Trade members to participate where they feel they have advice and knowledge to share. Please just remember to be sensitive, constructive and encouraging at all times. Remember, everyone needs to start somewhere.

Thanks everyone'

I didn't find that sensitivity on here tonight, but apologise if I've taken too hard a stance on the perceived treatment.

Zach

I'd appreciate any opinions you have. Responses via the forum or PM are welcome.

Regards,

Zach

Sorry to have upset you Zach,

I was under the impression you'd appreciate my opinions and that responses via the forum were welcome. I stand corrected.

My response was simply showing you how your post could be interpreted. I would have expected a 'thank you' as opposed to multiple posts about how nasty I am. Would you like a refund for the free advice?

i'm on cybers side, Zach, I think you have taken that first post totally wrong

If you were genuinely trying to help you'd have PM'ed that to me

maybe take your own advice?

Zach this is a common thing with forums and emails, if someone doesn't put the comma in the right space, :) forgets the smiley face :D then the whole sentence can be taken wrong

My points do stand, Mr Click.

You made out that I was being improper; I shouldn't need to re-iterate your 'elephant in the room' supposed revelation, or your opinion of my motives. The descriptor for this forum stated that encouragement and sensitivity were respected in this area of the forum. If your advice was, despite indicators, given in a spirit of helpfulness rather than accusation, I thank you for your valuable and, yes, free, advice, but it seemed to be more the latter than the. former, to me.

Maybe that's feedback you could utilise?

I thanked Ned for the same advice on a thread a while ago, but he didn't state, or imply that I 'seem' to be misrepresenting my motives.

But, end of the day, I'm the junior in terms of experience, so I'll assume the best and say, thanks for trying to help.

Zach.

Hi Zach, generally the folks here are a very helpful bunch... Advice comes in all shapes and sizes, try not take it personally and move on.

Hello Zach,

The elephant in the room reference was because I know others would have been thinking along similar lines but no-one had said anything. It's much easier for experienced members not to offer advice as it can become quite time consuming.

I've been in the unfortunate position of having Auda take back domains under the old rules and they were highly unprofessional and a law unto themselves. In all honesty; they were disgraceful. It didn't matter that their policies were poorly written (which they admitted), it didn't matter that they were wrong - they took the domains back anyway.

I'm sure it's improved now but after what I went through previously, I still abide by the old six month rule even though Auda have updated their policy.

Then I'll PM you my apology, CyberClick.

I got intense about being seemingly being perceived as engaging in dubious practices. I apologise to you all. Pride does get in the way at times, but that doesn't excuse what I see now to be a lack of grace and gratitude, on my part.

No need to apologise Zach; I've done it a few times myself as I'd say a few others here have to. Sorry I inadvertently impugned you.

PS: To all those wondering - Yes, I did have to look up the definition of impugned AND impugned.com.au is available.
