First of all, choose your domain name wisely, having a good URL can give you a head start in the race. Good domains are still expensive and for a good reason.
Good to know...

Brilliant, what a score of an interview, what i liked most was the quality of questions you asked but also the quality of the answers.... yes... we have heard it all before but it was really focused so definately an article worth reading.

like how he puts the domain name high up the list, everything rings true, 3 quality links are better then 1000 duds, content content content, be passionate and focused in content,

not sure i like his netcomber idea, as thats what i do a lot  , but at least i try to do it for a short period of time before moving into unique content.

thanks

A lot of valuable information in there for me and in words that i can understand, not industry gobbleddydook:)

Thanks James and very well done:)

Site is back online now, a few big sites picked up this story so we had some server issues, also a negative point was this was one of my lower grade hosts.

Yeah I saw his reply, many people are claiming this interview is all lies too.

I mean I am just the reporter, went out of my way to get this piece for the search world and a bunch of people are complaining...

Yeah I hear you; but you can't always please them all. ;)

Great work on the article James. I enjoyed the read thoroughly.

This is one of the main reasons I totally backed out of the SEO industry a few years ago. The industry is full of jealous people caught up in their own childish self importance.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great people in the industry, but to be honest it is just far too easy to read a couple of articles and become another SEO know it all. [/rant]
