Comments, suggestions, brickbats and bouquets please, for this web site redesign that I did tonight

www.footballfashions.com.au

After the site is finished, I want to get this site to number one on a chosen keyword/s in goog, bing and yahoo for Australian viewers

What keyword/s should I choose?

Thanks in advance to you, the dntraders of Australia

Very nice! Personally, the only thing I find strange is the wrap around/wrap out on the menu. Otherwise, awesome work. :)

Hey Joe,

I suggest putting your header image on a blue background instead of white to match the site's background.

Would also look better if your slider images were full width but I understand this is dependant on the photos you can get.

It also looks like you might be missing a ribbon effect for your top navigation menu (it shows correctly in the footer but not in your header).

Pro: The business model I think is good, basics are right in terms of product etc. Nice to see a proper shopping site compared to all the affiliate and ad based stuff.

Cons: I think the sales process is unclear, it looks like a blog but it should be a shopping cart based site. I would start with shopping cart software and add content rather than the other way around. Would not be prmoting ebay shop stuff and selling direct instead, it doesn't look great and probably costs for SEO purposes, it will also be costing in terms of paying ebay commission when it is you doing the marketing. The photos look "too personal" also I think. Would buy a mannequin or lay it out flat.

Another thing: Free Shipping should be prominant, this is a major marketing point.

Thanks Scott
I think I need a computer lesson
I don't actually know what "wrap around/wrap out on the menu" means
They have warps on the menu at the local kebab shop
I am tipping it has nothing to do with that

Hey Ash,
Thank you
I will give that banner a blue makeover and see what it looks like on the site
Sounds like a good idea
Yes, I just have not got around to making any images the correct size for the slider yet
Yes, the top ribbon has gone awol
I didn't even notice it. Thanks . I will give it a stern warning and put it back in its rightful position soon
That is really helpful, Ash, Thanks
Regards
Joe

G'day mate
Hows it going?
I used to use a mannequin
Then a past member ( Sean ) here convinced me that people like to see real people's eyes

I like Ebay Australia
Not convinced a shopping cart site will get any customers at all

It is both a real business and an affilate site
Each product link is an affiliate link ( 14 cents )

That is a fantastic tip about free shipping
I overlooked that. Thanks. Will add it to the banner, I think, and to elsewhere

I dont quite understand this statement. Do you mean in relation to his site, or to shopping sites in general?

If you mean shopping sites in general im puzzled, cause my shopping cart site (in my signature) paid of my house with ease:)

Very cute Bub in the Saints jumper. :)

Only 7 teams in your tabs. Any reason for this? Would have thought Magpies would be there (or are you trying to piss Spacey off?).

Have you had a look at some other sites in order to pinch ideas?

Congratulations to your wife for such an incredible reputation on eBay. You don't see this too often - 100% positive feedback on over 14,000 transactions.

Wow!

I think if it were model shots it would be different, that is probably the best solution, but obviously expensive. I think the amateur shots though it cheapens the product because it looks like the photos were done as cheaply as possible and it personalises things too much.

I think it will do better search engine wise, because at the moment there would be a whole lot of outbound links to ebay. Not sure what sorts of store level you are no, but ebay is not cheap in terms of commission in my experience. Obviously though you've got the hassle of listing items on both a store and ebay if you did that, and the store will likely need a fair bit on tinkering with to get it to run how you wanted.

I see, so it would be an affiliate link to your own products. I wonder if Google is applying a penalty for that?

Well done
I was exaggerating
My previous attempts at shopping carts did not work out
Selling one of a kind unique items like a vintage footy jumper makes stock control difficultwhen running a stand alone site and an Ebay site
Encouraged by your success, I might give it another go one day
I might even try selling darts j/k :)

Thank you very much to everyone that contributed to helping me make a better web site
on www.FootballFashions.com.au
I made most of the suggested changes
I do not have any training in creating web sites, so your help is invaluable to me
Thanks!
And the main thing is that the missus seems pleased with the site
