Could we please ask all Registrar's to post their current prices for:

  • .com.au / .net.au domains - 2 year price

  • Change of Registrant fee

Please also advise if your COR is paperless i.e. electronic

If you have any other features or specials you want to mention, please do so!

We will then post a new updated list for DNT members.

Many thanks, Ned (Admin)

.com.au/.net.au pricing is $19.95 for 2 years.

COR fee is $39.95 which includes 2 years re-registration.

COR is paper right now, however electronic COR is a bee's dong away from going live.

All of our domain names come with free DNS hosting, email forwarding, URL forwarding, URL cloaking and instant rego.

Cheers

Thanks Andrew.

If I may add my own little recommendation here, if you have a reasonable sized portfolio then you should talk to Andrew about special pricing - and getting access to the Fabulous platform for parking and managing your domains.

The combination of Drop and Fabulous is just terrific, and you also get very good personal service from Ben, Cam and Katherine (and Andrew of course).

Starting from scratch - whoever doesn't post their prices won't be included.

Tomorrow, I will be inviting all registrars to post their prices.

Well, I sent email invites to 8 registrars today, and the responses ranged from nothing to almost nothing. A couple of them said things like "our prices are on the website".

I didn't email NetRegistry because I'm hoping that "Norman" would have read this post yesterday. ;)

So, as with most things in life, it will those that are the keenest that will get the business.

If anyone has a particular registrar that they use, could they please post pricing details here? Or better still, ask them to make a post. :)

Many thanks.

Presently we are selling .COM.AU and .NET.AU for AUD$17 for 2 years. Registrations, contact changes, domain delegations, and NS host creates are automated.

All of our domains come with Free DNS hosting and free URL re-direction service.

The Change of Registrant will remain a manual process for the time being to ensure we comply with auDA policies. Our change of registrant charge is AUD$99 - but for a volume of registrant changes, I am sure we could negotiate a better deal.

While our competitors continue to offer low priced AU domain names, it is our intention to provide a competitive price. Therefore we cannot guarantee that our pricing will remain this low forever, however we will endeavour to provide a very competitive price.

Thank you for the info. Your price for domains is excellent. And it seems as if you provide good standard add ons.

I'm not criticizing you, but you need to know that your COR price and method is probably a turn off for a lot of domainers though.

If you're intent on being competitive, then please be aware that Drop does electronic COR's for $49.95; Enetica does electronic for $49;
and Ventra do a paper COR for $39.95 (soon to be electronic).

Admin, can you update the registrar pricing. VentraIP offers $19.95 COR now

http://www.dntrade.com.au/domain-registrars.php

Any chance of making it lowest price at top going down? It's a bit jumbled at the moment :)

Moan, moan - I'm not the technical wizard. :p

But I had a play and I managed to tweak it without breaking anything. I've put the top three at the top.

A lot of the other registrars didn't even bother coming back to me with updated pricing, so I'll just let them sit untended. They don't deserve the biz!

Read the *!

Netregistry have changed their way of advertising prices for domain names.

I went on to their site today, and saw .com.au domains advertised for just $17.48. Thought to myself "that's bloody good". Then I saw the * after the price.
And in very small print down the bottom it said:

* 1 year price shown. Minimum 2 years registration.

It's not a criticism at all - I guess it's just that I have always been used to seeing them advertise the 2 year price.

I wonder if it has helped them pick up more business?

Domainers do seem to have long memories, i didn't see the previous but if it has changed to 'trick or confuse' people that's a pity and maybe remembered by some folk

I don't think it was done to purposely "trick" people. Just obviously a different marketing strategy.

Advertising Component pricing for AU Domain names.

Netregistry have changed their way of advertising prices for domain names... com.au domains advertised for just $17.48*... in very small print down the bottom it said: *1 year price shown. Minimum 2 years registration.

Yes I noticed that too. I was wondering if that came under the same category as 'Component pricing' as described by the ACCC.
http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/816199

The motor vehicle industry went through it, and then the travel industry had to change the way they advertised to show the fully inclusive price. Maybe there should be a level playing field in the Domain name industry too.

The essential rule is don't mislead. Provide consumers with a figure for the total price at least as prominently as the most prominent component. As domainers I'm sure you are aware of the domain pricing, but your customers might do their own research, and think they have found a better deal.
