Parking Options - Rook Media

After years of parking at Namedrive, have just trialed a bunch of domains with Rookmedia.net which delivered some really great results.

I've tried them all over the years - ND, Fab, Domain Sponsor, Parked, Sedo and all have been pretty disappointing (mind you, we always want more don't we?!) with ND slightly ahead of the rest.

Anyway for the first time in years, looks like there might be a real, significant improvement. They do also offer custom for sale links (eg to your NF listing).

Will report back when all 3,000+ domains are moved over...

Hey David, Have you ever tried www.above.com?

Yes Joe I did. Think I saw a marginal improvement but not enough to justify adding (and optimising) each domain on 5 different platforms. The admin outweighed the benefits.. Mind you if you were just sitting on a portfolio that wouldn't be an issue

However so far rook media seems to be way better

Oh sorry I didn't realise that. Sure it will open up soon... they just want to iron out the bugs with people like me first I guess!

For those just using one provider that will result in a lot of lost revenue. I'd say for most people there would be 40-50%+ revenue gain from moving from one to say 5.

I don't think there is much admin with above.com really. As far as optimising I've never optimised a domain in my life, that is the parking companies job and if they don't do a good job of it is just goes to someone who does.

No, I went from oen provider to four or five.

Admin is an issue - not for you, snoopy, because you haven't bought a domain for years but for people like me who get a few more domains each day, adding them to each platform is a hassle. And you can't rely on each providers to optimise each domain either in my experience.

Hey David,

Have you got some sample domains you can share, showing different designs/layouts?

Cheers,

Mike

You know until your post I hadn't even looked! Sounds lazy and it probably is but I don't really care as long as the landers work - and they seem to!

Here's an example wyvern.com.au

Just saw this article on Domain Name Wire. Apparently they are now open to the public (after having come out of beta).

http://domainnamewire.com/2011/06/23/new-domain-parking-company-comes-onto-the-scene/

.

Great - let's just hope they don't get flooded with poor quality traffic and payouts suffer. The scammers, traffic buyers and click-frauders really hurt the PPC industry

I just finished assigning a few hundred domains to Google AdSense for Domains, so I'm not excited to change all the nameservers again.

:p

That said, if other members sees good results with Rook Media please post about it here and I'll give them a go.

What registrar does not have bulk DNS change?
I am tipping that you will not leave them for long at Google AdSense for Domains, anyway

Do they have a "For Sale" box on the landers like fab and ND ?

Yes Joe they do ... I'll set them up today as they make a HUGE difference to sales enquiry. They can link straight to NF listing too

It is not something that needs to be relied on, if they can't optimise it well, they won't win it.

It's not actually as simple as that. With manual optimization, a parking company might go from being the worst option to the best. If you don't bother to manually optimize you would miss out on rev
