"xxxxxAustralia.com" domains - Host in Australia or not?

Hi Guys - just wondering if it is advantageous to have "(topic)AUSTRALIA.com" domains hosted in Australia or doesn't it matter? Target country is set with Google as Australia.

I wouldn't think it would matter if you have set your target country on Google.

Except maybe load speed? Which I have heard mentioned a lot recently in relation to SEO.

If the market is Australians then you are better off hosting here, having said that .com makes no sense for the local market.

The line from Google "Host your website where your customer are."

Especially if it is an eCommerce site.

also in webmaster tools set your target area to AU.
