i'm trying to do a permanent redirect for bikinis.tv to www.bikinis.tv but the hosting company has informed me it is not working because the script is set to NOT REDIRECT the www ?

They say the settings for me to change this are in the wordpress admin somewhere but so far i have not found it to do the change and until i do this i can't change it at the host

Any ideas where i find these settings on a wordpress site ?

.....love to know thanks

Have you tried .htaccess?

There is an option in there for this which might be conflicting with any .htaccess mods.

Go to settings>general and make sure there is a www. in the wordpress and site URL's

Hope this helps. Good luck.

admin dashboard -settings - general settings - Site address (URL) include the www in the URL
Thats all you should have to do

Thanks Joe and Paz ..... i did make the changes and am still having problems as there are about four other options to make during the redirection at cpanel , i am not sure why it didn't work to the point i even lost my password at one stage !

i have referred it to the support at hostupon in the hope they can do it at their end

cheers !

WordPress address (URL) http://www.bikinis.tv
Site address (URL) http://www.bikinis.tv Enter the address here if you want your site homepage to be different from the directory you installed WordPress.

You should not have to do anything in the cpanel to get url to redirect to www.url
The general setting Site address (URL) on the wordpress dashboard does it for you
If you put in www.url then url will redirect to www.url
If you leave out the www then www.url will redirect to url

It is so easy it is confusing

yes i see what you mean ........... it worked , although at my cpanel there are 301 permanent redirection options , so i wonder if the search engines now only see one site ?

that is the reason , so i dont have two sites www. and non www.

Below shows that this set up is now redirecting to the non www. (after adding www.)

http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.bikinis.tv/a!links!!ref!linkscape?anything

i want the domain to go the www. version because you always use www. when adding to directories ............etc

Rod,

This does appear to be scripting related as you are not able to redirect using the script.
As Chris mentioned there may be an option within the script itself to enable redirects.
Please contact the script provider regarding this as they will be able to shed more light.

Thanks
