I have been using several VPS providers including Vultr, Digital Ocean, Linode, AWS.
All have been OK so far. They are self managed but that's fine with me.
Has anybody had any experience with any of them?

Yes I have an account with Vultr, Digital Ocean and Linode.
Vultr takes the cake I have about 40 servers with them but they're all pretty similar.
Price-wise: Linode overpriced, DO normal, Vultr bargain.

I did have many servers at web24, but those are slowly dwindling, but shopping around for VPS myself and I'm starting to lean towards AWS. The price looks good too.

Yes, AWS is a good solution, lot's of options like S3 backup, Glacier archiving, Elastic IP. Can get pricey with bigger VPS.
