Personally, i think the mere fact that this is being debated shows that people are unsure, cautious or concerned. That being the case, he should not bid.
He should refrain so that his integrity is unable to be questioned.
Of course this might be a publicity stunt a la 'These names are sooo good that even as the auctioneer I'm just gonna have to bid on them'. Good on him if it is!!
