Watched a movie last night called 'surrogates' with Bruce Willis, it was interesting snippet of how the not so distant future had progressed.

My only complaint was it didn't run for long enough

Rods rating ...... 7/10

Another movie viewed was called 'the descent' six chicks go caving in a little known cave system ........what could possibly go wrong?

Again seemed to not run long enough

Rods rating ...... 7/10

Both were good entertainment however all films that run for less than 100 minutes instantly lose a point , tough but fair!

I've seen The Descent - felt a bit ripped off with the ending but otherwise pretty good.

I'd give it about 6.5/10.

it was because i went to the new to weekly section that i came across 'the descent 2' and i thought it would be good to see the first one, so there is still a sequel yet , however who would know if it takes up where the other one left off, when i get a spare moment i may go to www.imbd.com (internet movie data base) and have a read up , if anyone here has not heard of this site , it is the best movie resource on the net and has an amazing alexa ranking ..... do check it out

Maybe oneday i can get my domain StreamMovies.Tv up and running

Oh spacey, you go to the video shops to hire video and suggest people have not heard of IMDB? You are a laugh and a half :)

Your post about 'The Descent' already sent me on a IMDB search to check it was the same movie I was thinking of... apparently their was an alternate ending to the Descent for American audiences which is where the sequel takes off from. I'll be interested to hear your review of the sequel.

Ash.

I still go to the video shops too - no credit card so I still do a lot of things the old way. Getting a master card debit this week tho.

Having just read the imdb info about the descent two and the original, i noticed the recommendations section suggest a movie called 'The Ordeal'

perhaps someone here can have a look and pass on their thoughts, interesting to note that we were close to the average vote of 7.4 for the descent

I quite enjoyed the sequel , whilst definitely not as good as the original it did carry on in a reasonable fashion and was worth the look.

It also had an unexpected situation at the end of the film which allows for another sequel

rating 6.0

remember all films that run for less than 100 minutes ......lose a point!

might try twin town next week

Watched Fast and the Furious 5.

I'd give it a 10/10.

Seriously, best movie of the year. Great chases although not as much of a focus on cars. More on planning and getting away from crims + cops etc

LOL @ older people.

I essentially refuse to watch a movie unless I have read the reviews on IMDB. I mean like seriously refuse - anything below 7.0 doesn't get watched.

My mum still goes to the video store as well and is always bringing home crap. I can't believe people still pay.

I can see me in the future telling my kids about "How back in the old days we used to have to go to stores to get VHS tapes to watch movies, and we'd walk around the store for 15 minutes decide what to get and we'd just take the advice of the person in the store on what was good." And the kids will be like "What like, you had to wait "minutes" just to watch a movie? WTF"

:)

Ugh - netflix needs to roll out in Australia.

I think you're downplaying it a little cncventure. The way I remember it was that you rushed to the video store in the hope the previous person returned it by 6pm so that you could rent it out at the very moment otherwise you were going to miss out. They would charge $5 for newish movies and $7 for new releases which was quite a bit of money looking back.

I remember waiting about 3 weeks just to rent Sonic for the Master System because everyone wanted to rent it. I didn't return that for 3 days! HA!

damm ............wish older folk thought of planking ......it's so cool ???????

this comment was inspired by the goose who planked on the seventh floor of his apartment block then fell off ............ crazy

Enjoyed a Nicole Kidman film ( yes it's true ) called "The Invasion"

Worth a look, voted at 6 ....... one more minute longer it would have been a 7 remembering that all movies under 100 minutes lose a point

Also enjoyed reliving the 70's by watching "The Runaways" ...... a honorable 6 was my vote
