I was not sure where to post this so chit chat is as good as any, now on top of trying to learn some new stuff i have discovered that there is a setting that is off stray in my computer ? I have just gone to add a link to some code (strange stuff happening lately) and this is what happened. I cut and pasted the code for a link because the quotation marks do not seem to be working??

Now because i have been having trouble i thought i would test the situation, as you can see when i started with the COPIED CODE the first thing i tried was to put some text in between the quotation marks only to see the beginning of easylawyersearch add quotation marks along with the e letter, at this point i stopped as this has been happening all day (yes only shit likes this happens to me it seems) You may also notice that the quotation marks are different if you look closely. Huh??

Now i have restored to defaults on textedit and the problem still persists, i have also had this problem with text wrangler as well ???

Ok what's going on ?? One hint is that when i tried to find the source of the problem yesterday i went to safari then preferences, then to advanced only to see that the default encoding was set to Westen (ISO Latin 1) ...... say what !!!

Of course i reset it back to Unicode (UTF-8) but as you can see i am still getting different characters to what i am tying and it is making things hard as i try and do new stuff and fix old stuff

So the question is, has this happened to you before ?? What did you do ??

My next step is to go to services then on to Services Preferences and just hit default on each tab, keyboard, text, shortcuts, input services

I do understand that the reason i was having trouble was because of the Latin Encoding Setting but i changed that back to UTF-8 yesterday so i am still a little stumped as to why to problem persists

The way i first discovered the problem was that i went to wrc.org to validate some code only to see that the <html lang="en"> was not working and that basically anything with quotes was having a problem
