stock libraries

i have seen a MASSIVE increase in the cost of stock library iamge costs for what i would call shitty images, I mean all i want is 72 dpi !! not a billboard.

istockphoto dot com is getting more expensive daily, does anyone have some great website they go to ?

this is one i have used but most are crappy

i use to be able to get a 640x800px 72dpi for $1 USD but now its smaller and lucky to be under $5USD some are even $30USD i saw the other day

any hints?

I use thinkstock which is a paid site, but way back when I used to use morguefile and sxc.hu (which you have mentioned)... Not sure if MorgueFile is any good these days or not.

now and is paid and not as good as istock i feel.

thinkstock uses istock and getty, i think getty bought istock or did some deal as i know a photographer that ONLY shoots for stock libraries and he is with istock and got given membership to getty without having to apply as getty are VERY particular about who they let in.

You're right about iStockPhoto.

I've used ShutterStock in recent times which are slightly cheaper for casual use. However, their 25-a-day subscriptions are excellent value if you require a lot of images. Pay $249 for one month. This effectively gives you 750 images if you space out the downloads. That's 33 cents each.

I use www.photodune.net, part of the Envato network, which I believe is a Melbourne based company. Web sized photos can start at $1 each.
