Solar is gaining momentum finally. Thoughts?

SolarChoices.com.au
SolarPowerChoices.com.au

cheers,
Mike

what about SolarTiles.com.au ?

Doesn't get a lot of searches but it's better than the other ones. People tend to use the word panels more than tiles. Tiles sounds more like spaceship stuff, maybe you can sell it to NASA.

There "might" be some value in solartiles.com.au to a retail buyer, but for just the domains by themselves I don't think you'll get much if anything for any of them from domainers and web developers.

i thought solartiles is a good one for the future !
Could well be.

when you think about every house should have solar tiles
I think this trend will reverse when solar actually becomes cost effective. At the moment the industry doesn't work without government support. Once the industry doesn't need government support it is likely that business, rather than households, will be the primary investors in solar and they will likely setup solar power plants (farms).

That said all this is probably 5 - 10 years away. Who knows where domain names will be by then...

Just as a side know it also is looking like in 20 - 30 years time nuclear fusion will likely dominate the energy production scene if the pilot projects are anything to go by.

Personally I wouldn't be renewing this for years hoping that at some distant time someone may want to buy it.

i suspect the technology is there but getting it to the home is another thing , my thinking is there is how many homes in australia with tiles ? whilst true it's a long time to speculate there will be a day when it is a good name, but agreed a long wait for this one.

there will be a day when it is a good name

The is pure speculation. Personally I have major doubts about the term really becoming popular. Is the average builder going to be getting someone to to wire up hundreds/thousands of "solar tiles"? What would that cost? ignoring the cost of the actual tiles. Having large solar panels or roofing made from solar panels would make more sense.

CSIRO developed this (same technology as they used for plastic money) - metallic threads in a polymer film laid onto the tiles - makes the whole roof a solar collector - clever eh? Another one is a spray on film that does a similar thing -compare optic fibre to copper cable, similar technological capacity for exceptionally thin metallic threads to capture solar energy - won't be seen on the roof - metallic paint for cars, been around for eleventeen eons - use a metallic type of paint with miniscule metallic "pixels" will turn your colorbond roof into one humungous solar receptor. The technology is there, the guy from the CSIRO on the inventors the other night had a nice smirk on his face when asked if the CSIRO would get royalties from these developments :)

By the way - I sold SolarTiles.com.au (unfortunately, before I saw that episode of the inventors !!!!) - So needless to say I am holding onto my other Solar names a bit longer.

cheers,
Mike
p.s. 3D Solar will be the next big thing :) :) ......... anyone wanna buy 3DSolarHotWater.com.au ? :)

p.s. I need some help - Google Docs, email us / contact us templates - used one but on the response back to the submitter where you can put a custom message (thanks for joining) it has two links on the bottom that the submitter sees - "create new form" and "back to form templates" - anybody know how to get rid of that content ??

cheers,
Mike

just a year and a half on and i wonder if anyone is still tracking this thread?

solar has become a HUGE market online for referals, so i hope you registered all those domain names ( i'm not in the market for that so you're cool )

solarquotes.com.au is making a MOTZA i have been told

i'm using the same system for a different business type so if anyone wants to have that knowledge, and pay me to develop it then PM me.

its about $3k to setup but then it runs whilst you are asleep, this doesn't include your effort on getting the people to do the work across australia or your SEO but the business model works on adwords not organic.
