Hey all,

What do you think the value of this .com.au domain would be:

- 360,000 local exacts per month
- sporting domain
- single word, correctly spelt
- its a category killer
- domain has never been used (no website ever, only used for email)

Very hard to even guesstimate a value if we don't know what the domain is.

I presume you have regged it, so can you share?

No, I don't own it. I'm trying to determine the value before making an offer to the owner. I know values are inherently difficult to provide, hence I'm only after a ballpark if anyone cares to share their opinion.

"360,000 local exacts per month"

Doesn't sound right.

eg

football 12,100
racing 2,400
rugby 12,100
tennis 18,100
golf 12,100
cricket 74,000
surfing 8,100

run it through estibot and divide the result by 10??

Tough question, how much are you prepared to pay (without saying so here)...

Ok - I understand now.

Are you talking 360,000 EXACT searches? If so, I'm perplexed and curious. ;)

I just put every major one word sport into GAKT, and the most popular name was "cricket" with 72,000 EXACTS. This beat "football"; "soccer", netball, tennis and rugby.

Had a brain fart. Forgot to tick [Exact]

10,100 exact & 360,000 broad.

Gut feeling is high 5 figures if it is something like golf.com.au, rugby.com.au, tennis.com.au etc. Still have my doubts about the stats though as a name with even that should be very very obvious as one of the biggest sports.

Really depends on the sport niche, is it popular in Australia or not.

Something like Rugby.com.au or Cricket.com.au could go for a very large sum,

Yet something like kayaking.com.au will go for less.

You have huge keyword tool problems with terms which may be popular in the US but are not popular in australia, I have seen it time and time again where you have data issues you really need to your your own methods of keyword research.

Regards.

Thanks for all the information. I've got a much better idea now of the value of the domain and how much I will be offering.
