redoing a live website

i am presently redoing a few live websites, i'm building them on an IP address then use backup buddy to replace the current site once finished.

client gets to work on the web pages and see the new work.

as these are WP thus database i'm interested if anyone has other ways of doing it without bringing down the current site.

generally using my way the site goes down for @ 10 minutes

If live site sits on server A I create cpanel account on server B. Change local host file IP for domain to server B. When it's ready to go live, update nameservers and no downtime.
