Anyone ever purchased traffic?

Was introduced to three websites that sell targeted traffic that am wondering if anyone knows anything about.

- www.vizibiz(dot)com
- www.prchecker(dot)net
- www.visitorz(dot)co.uk

Two last questions -> Where does all the traffic come from? And -> Has anyone ever used this to get a website off the ground?

To be honest I tried some paid traffic sites maybe 5 years ago from a forum as a test, the traffic is sent was mostly junk. It was all bots and visitors who didn't even interact with the site. Personally I would not do it.
