i think its more of admiration and respect of their skills, cricket, rugby union, rugby league, anything.
eg: aus v nz cricket world cup final this weekend in MCG melbourne is already sold out.

It seems like a good result considering where it is played and the contenders, the old joke used to be that would last one leaving Nz please turn the lights out! Now they get all our immigration rejects and couple who actually want to live there!
