Hey guys, just starting out. I took the opportunity to buy a few .au domains and I am not really sure what`s next.

1) I have a few city names and a couple of airports. Do you think it is worth approaching the local Governments and see if they are interested to buy? Is this how this usually works?
2) Similar to the above but companies that have the .com.au but don`t have the .au. Can I approach them?
3) If 1 and 2 are just me dreaming, what is usually the next step? Is there a guide or book I can refer to?

Thanks all,
I hope to learn a lot from the forum.

1. local gov do not tend to buy .com.au or .au domains, so that would be a surprise if they did

2. yes definitely these are the target audience for nice generic domain names.

3. there are many forums and even domaining courses that you can do if you are interested in this space.
for the interim you can park and add for sale links to your domains so that you can start to receive offers for any such domains, this you can do with one of our companies: Above.com

1 and 2 are usually described as 'outbound' marketing. The odds of success, and the margins, are low.

If you have good city domains then you could build out some directory websites.
