multiple domain useage

Howdy.

I am pretty green to this google ranking stuff etc so bear with me if what I ask seems stupid..lol

Lets say I have some domain names along the lines of

dog2cat.com
dog2cat.com.au
dog2cat.net
dog2cat.net.au
dogtocat.com
dogtocat.com.au ...and so on and so on.

can I upload the same site to all of these names?

If I do this will it give me more exposure with the search engines?

Google will penalize you as any duplicate content so if you ranked #1 for some keywords, then by doing that, more than likely, you will be nowhere near the top 10.

Google will only rank one of the sites so there's no point. You could point the extra domains to your main site if you think they may get the odd type in visitor or if you really wanted to go to town develop them all as supporting sites with careful links to the main site.

However, I'd suggest focusing efforts on the main site and just leaving the other domains as developing 5 sites takes nearly 5 x the effort
