For those interested in seeing how many "daily deal" sites there are in Australia, check this site out.

http://www.loveonedaysales.com.au/

It has all sorts of categories - current sites; dead sites; coming soon sites etc

Kind of gobsmacking how many there are / were.

That's a fair call actually. Any site that demands I submit an email, Like or tweet before even being given access to the site can go jump off a cliff.

I'm in Melbourne today, and I saw an innovative marketing effort by Catch of the Day.

I grabbed a copy of The Age, and there right on the front cover was this bright yellow sticker. And it was a deal simply put. Turn over the sticker, and see the deal with the URL.

What do you think?

The Age often has these stickers for various companies
I find them annoying because you can't read the info underneath, above the Age banner.
When you remove the sticker the paper underneath gets damaged and you no longer have a pristine copy.
I am trying appear even more grumpy than you usually do
Nothing beats The Age Ipad version
It is about the only thing I use the Ipad for, now that I have the nexus 7
Is that Ned ringing me? He is in Melb.
I am just a lonely boy ( insert you tube)

You are a grumpy old bastard. ;)

First time I've seen a sticker like that; so it made me look. If I was in the market for some shoes, I would have bought. So it obviously works for them.

That wasn't me ringing; but I did try a moment ago. No answer. Screening your calls? Ha ha!

And Honan YES you need to have a pristine copy to keep as newspapers are DEAD and will become collectors items for compost enthusiasts
