Links to & from dropped domains - are they still active ??

do links to and from a domain that has dropped remain active after dropping ?? Does the answer(s) to this also apply to domains that have been parked and links established whilst parked?

cheers Shags

When the domain drops, the DNS which matches the domain to the physical hosting no longer exists so there is no website and hence no more outbound links (from).

In bound links (to) have nothing to do with a domain expiring so will generally still be inplace but be broken.

Thanks for that. Just as an aside - how do these scams work with link building sites that sell links from expired domains? The links apparently are real but obviously lack any juice.

You answered your own question there Shags. People do say that the links are discounted (or reset), but that doesn't mean they don't get traffic from the existing IBLs.

Some still have PageRank and search engine traffic intact.

Very true, I believe that is one of the reasons why Google originally got accreditation to be a domain name registrar so it could monitor and "reset" any existing links to expired domains.

I have a bunch of domains expiring very soon - will it be of any benefit at all for me to put links on them to other sites of mine that I am keeping?
