I own a very big (value) generic word for .org.au ... but I have the feeling I'm not legally allowed to own it.

How many .org.au do you have... and can anyone point me to the REAL rules of owning a .org.au ?
thanks

None.. there was recently a crack down (last year) on this where registrars recieved a 'please explain' for all of their .org.au

Your registrar should not have let your register it...

It is not valuable I'm affraid, best to let it drop when its time for renewal, I had registered a few by accident in the early days of my domaining before I relised it was for organisations
I think one was byronbay.org.au from memory

I see you are from Merimbula, say hello to my mate at the local fish and chip shop, he purchased merimbula.com.au and net.au last year from me.

Something like $500 to get on his site ouch

1. To be eligible in the org.au .., registrants must be:
a) an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
b) a political party registered with the Australian Electoral Commission; or
c) a trade union or other organisation registered under the Workplace Relations Act 1996; or
d) a sporting or special interest club operating in Australia; or
e) a charity operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation; or
f) a non-profit organisation operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation.

What are your thoughts on a domain such as wine.org.au , which has a site on it driving traffic and link juice to a commercial site, is registered to a "fake" made up organisation, also being one that is NOT incorporated?

Gosh my .org.au is sooooo valuable that even going to all the mess of creating a Organization could be a good option... but I feel kind of "dodgy" doing that.

I find that hard to beleive, even if only for the fact it's an org au.

Net au's seem near impossible to move for anything substantial, I'd imagine orgs are harder.

And remember, things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.
