These are all MUST DO's guys.
1) Become a member of auDA. It costs less than a domain registration. For just $22, you get to vote in the AGM
http://www.auda.org.au/membership/membership-overview/
There is no excuse for whinging about policy and doing nothing when this option is open to us all. Do it right this second if you haven't already
2) Join Joe's Australian Domainers Group on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=100375660326
Takes a second and will keep you in the loop re meetups as well as encourage networking. While you're on Facebook, make friends with other domainers (mine is facebook.com/netfleet - post yours below)
3) Consider joining the 20 person auDA names panel. http://www.auda.org.au/news-archive/auda-30062010/
Only once every few years do we have a chance to debate and reform AU domain policy. If issues like:
1) Should the 6 mth ban on reselling registered domains be lifted
2) Should people be allowed to use WHOIS details to contact someone to buy a domain name (currently this is prohibited)
3) Should the auDA misspellings list be ditched
4) Should au domains still require an ABN for registration?
5) The close & substantial rule
are important to you then you should think about joining (I am going to myself)
The panel runs for about 9 months, I believe, meeting once a month (although this can be partially done by webcam hookup I think) and expenses may be paid if needed.
HAPPY HOMEWORK!!!
